Constantine's engineering / manufacturing operation.
Home of the 928 and 944 TT bearings.
And the SuperClamp.

Pretty sure the son of the owner, or maybe SIL, was real active on one of the porsche hybrid forums a couple years ago.

WARNING this link is good, but a google search looking for the old forum had a malware warning.

My impression is that they learned enough about the 928 to never touch another one. I was looking to buy the motor out of an 86 Euro they were doing, and the emails were confusing, turned out it was a 32v smog motor, and I said no thanks.

I find this thread amusing and more than a bit biased.

My 928 still runs OK but if the engine blew I would have no qualms about putting a Chevy SB in it or junk it out.

I have a '62 Jaguar XKE Roadster that had engine problems, the parts were/are as outrageous as Porsche. Put a Chevy SB in that, no regrets, no engine problems. 2400 lb stock and the SB is lighter.

Personally I could care less what anyone else thinks of what I do with my vehicles.

Pulling the motor out of an old Porsche and putting something else different in its place
is like a buying an old German Sheperd with false teeth.
It works but not the same old dog it used to be.

too many 928s and 968s (my bias) are parted.

i can't wait to play the exhaust from 388 cubic inches (LS7 block w/ forged ls3 crank) on the '68 forum.

It's more like putting gray hound legs on a lame dog. Except from the outside the appearance is no different and does have a bigger bite.

I agree! And usually because the cost of parts are prohibitive.
968+LS7='more better'

I am going to put a bare bones swap kit together that will tempt even the hardcore purists.

Unlikely, given that a limited market even exists for a chevy swap, much less getting near 928 the 'purist' level.

Id be OK with my 370hp, irregardless of what a domestic swap could do...at that point, id rather buy the GM car it came with.

Well, I think its a great thing.
Please do it.

My Euro engine will eventually get too tired.
Yes, Ive got a spare 32 valve engine to swap-in.

But what we need is a bare bones aluminum chevy kit.
And, even more importantly, some solid path forward for making the Corvette transaxle swaps DIY.

That will open a lot of doors.
Those of us trashing solid foundational cars to keep our classic drivetrains can then retro the donors with Chevy.
I'll keep classic 928 and build chevy 928 cars, both, and it will magnify my experience.

And am gonna absolutely need a 948. That's a given at this point.

T, the pan for the LS swap will be the new Moroso 20142
Jim at Moroso said call 2nd week Dec.
I cracked the code for the pilot bearing for the 5-speed. And will confirm the shaft dimension with Dinsdale.

If someone has a TT and trans (with front coupler and input shaft) to get a measurement.
I have a solution for the TT adapter that would enable a factory 5sp or the Auto to be setup with the same adapter.
