Default Doughnuts

Have been wathingan episode of Megafactories, this time with Mustangs. They said that the first thing you want to do with this car is a burnout and by the looks of it, create smoke while transferring rubber from tyre to street, in circles. Am I the only petrolhead who thinks this is about the dummest thing imaginable to do with a car?

Well, not the dumbest, but it's in the top 10 for sure!

Yeah, you're right. Running the car into solid or stationary objects or liquids tops making doughnuts on the dumb scale.

Let me be the first one to admit to running the car into solid objects, which is no. 1 or 2 on the dumb scale. I hit a rock at the Nürburging. Sounds cool but must admit it was at the Parkingplatz at night, with no cars around..
EUR 800 of damage. About the costs of burning a set of tyres. Would have been a lot more fun!

Among the brainless classes in the UK "Burning" is a sport/ pastime/ whatever.
They assemble in supermarket car parks late at night and basically see who can
produce the biggest/ longest burnout. Usually in souped up FWD hatchbacks
like Golf GTI, Honda Civic, etc. You just apply the handbrake and sit there
melting your tyres. Now you might think that this would be very much a
minority interest but enough do it for the manufacturers to produce special
burnout tyres that give off different colours of tyre smoke.
Go figure, as you Americans would say!

Being involved in tastes and smells professionally, I wonder if the tyre manufacturers could produce tyres with different smeels when used for burnouts. Something like flowers or spices.

I like that, Dave. I heard this one, but I haven't tried it yet myself.

The cop pulls you over then approaches the side of your car and asks "do you know why I pulled you over?" Then you reply, "You thought I had the doughnuts?"
