Lizard shifter and front shift guide
Well, I'm finally installing my lizard shifter after letting it sit around for a few months. Odd issue that I'm running into is that my front shift guide refuses to pop off the ball cup. I rotated the rod 180 degrees, and still no pop...
I thought maybe I just missed it, but I can't seem to get the guide to move forward either. Anyone else run into this?

I had one that would not pop off that way either (nut wasnt tightened down....)
I took a big (long and thick) flat screwdriver, went under the car, slid it between the heat shield and the chassis. I put it onto the metal edge of the ball cup and gave it a hard wack (took a couple tries). It popped off from that though.

Have you tried accessing the coupler from under the car? Make sure that the rod is not bound to the TT with a tie wrap or band clamp (sometimes done to keep things from parting company when they are too worn).
I used a wide (about two inches) "L" shaped pry bar (a type used for pulling nails) to reach around the TT and lever things apart. YMMV, but it worked easily for me.
HTH, and good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys! My ball cup won again today... just got back from the store- time for the saws-all. Can't wait to get it finalized and shorten that throw. Great car but the only thing I've shifted with a longer throw was my old man's 8N Ford, and that wasn't by much!

saws-all success! Shifter install complete and works great. Except, I can't get into first or reverse unless I loosen the shift-lever bolt. Time to get under the car and replace those bushings.

You SHOULD be able to find all six gears. If not, then your bushings are probably toast... Good luck!!
