Default Euro wont start

84 Euro. Just got the car it ran a year ago when it was put away. When I put a battery in it and turned the key to the on position. I could hear the fuel pump buzz and relays clicking. I turn it over and it wont start. The airbox is taken off (luckily I found it so wont have to buy another. I spray some carb cleaner down but it still wont start. As I start to take a better look at tge MAf, it appears to not be connected, and there is a bunch of animal poop (for lack of better word), laying on thr manifold, and all around the opening where the MAF attaches. I an hoping that when I turned it over I didnt suck any in.

QUESTIONS:
1) what are the chances of cranking the car and sucking in some feces?
1a) is it likely of possible that a small animal actually would have crawled into the opening and pooped in there? as in inside the manifold itself.

2) if i did suck in some animal feces, is my motor possibly damaged by crankng it? I mean what is the likelyhood that it would create enough vacuum to suck some in?

I always have the strangest problems. I am going to take a shop vac tomorrow and try to suck up anything that may have fallen into the manifold. Hopefully not going to be an issue. Hopefully my small vacuum will be powerful enough to suck anything up that may have fallen in there. I am hoping you guys have good things to tell me lol.

On the Euro 84 the twin dizzy has a small belt inside it SO you want to check the timing of the cams and crank and the BOTH of the distributor rotors.
remove both caps and put the engine at TDC,
the rotors should both be pointing at their respective hash marks on the dist body.
Once this is done you can try swapping the coil wires to the opposite distributors it will only run one way if they are swapped then the engine will not run.

Clean out the trash in the intake,
open the throttle plate and use a rag to soak up any oil sitting inside.
Replace the MAF and the lower aircleaner so you can attach the temp sensor connector.

The early LH cars are very sensitive to a good MAF ,
so if its old you would be safe at sending it off to have the MAF rebuilt

I don't think the fecal matter itself is a concern. However, the fact that animals have been in your engine bay should be. Check that they haven't been chewing up your wiring. Assuming good compression, timing, fuel in the tank, etc...

Get a good spark plug and remove a plug wire. Have a helper crank the car as you ground the plug to an Allen bolt on the engine cross brace. Just touch the threads to the bolt head while you watch for spark. DO NOT touch the plug while performing this test. Check one wire from each cap. If there is no spark, you need to verify that the green/white 2 prong plug at the CE panel hasn't been disconnected. If not, make a jumper wire and remove relay XIII (ignition relay). Bridge terminals 30 and 87 and crank the car. If it still does not start, it may be your CPS (crankshaft position sensor) at fault. If your ignition checks out fine...

Remove relay XVII (fuel pump) and replace it with the jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87. If you can hear the pump run, try to start the car. If the pump doesn't run, check fuse 13 (fuel pump) to make sure that it isn't blown and that it is getting a good contact. If the pump runs and it still doesn't start, swap relay XIV (starter relay) for relay XVI (LH relay). If the car tries to crank, go rent a NOID light so that you may verify that the injectors are firing. If the injectors don't fire, check grounds.

Report findings.
