Thats a lot of money W/O LSD, and the dash appears to be starting to shrink..and duckbill a little.
Not a fan of the aftermarket speakers that IMHO, pull a little of the exclusive price out of it as well.
Still gonna need about 1k in top end refresh, fuel lines, FPR/Dampers, etc...to complete, plus a water pump they did not replace. MAF should be fine.

Very nice example - but asking that much, I'd say, requires a lot more detail like whether it includes all the extra bits it came with when new (wallet key, spare belts, plastic gloves/bags, etc.) as the real market for cars with miles that low is potential show cars, and those details matter. Which is why the aftermarket speakers are a bit worrisome - is the factory amplifier still there, how badly was the wiring hacked, etc?
As for whether its the right car for you - depends on what your goals for 928 ownership are.
Do you want to drive, restore, customise or show the car, or any combination of those?
In that price range you can get pretty much any model of 928, from 5-speed GTS to mint early cars. Or you could buy 20 running but unloved examples
If you're just starting to be interested in buying a 928 and are serious, spend more time reading up on model dfferences, and make a list of your own requirements (auto/manual, sunroof or not, early/S/S4/GTS body style, power, maintenance requirements, documentation etc.), then start shopping.

Who details a car out like that and does not replace that mangled antenna?
Other than that, nice clean car but a little high on price considering what you can get for that kind of money.

If you have mucho dollars then go for it. If you don't then don't.
I think a driver GTS would be better. -> EBAY 93 GTS

There's two ways to look at this: It is worth this much because it is a museum piece, and the only way to preserve that value is to put it away and not drive it.
Or, it is worth this much because it is an almost-new '89 5-speed S4, which they no longer make. And if they did, would cost a lot more than $39K.
So buy it and drive the heck out of it, because it's your favorite car and still has almost all of its lifetime ahead of it.
This assumes of course that it was properly stored & maintained, and funky coolant hasn't eaten the heads somewhere along the way. Records that went back farther would be a huge help.
If you like the car and it fits your budget, why not?

I recently drove a 25k mile 91 928 S4, and it is definitely awesome to drive such a new-like example. That one was 100% original and and Porsche dealer maintained. So smooth and quiet, it made me want to put the original exhaust back on mine...
The car offered here is not perfect, which I think would be reasonable to expect given the asking price. There should be no ugly aftermarket speakers, no mangled antenna, no shiny vinyl and leather (and the leather would better be nice and soft).
I'm all for high values of perfect 928s, but this one needs a bit more attention before it can play in the top price league. Having said that, I still think it might be a great car to purchase and own - if the price is right.

Why talk you out of it, just hit it!. Seriously though, it sounds like they will deal on the car. If I had an extra 30K right now I would try like heck to make a deal. That is my favorite color combo for a 928.
