Having posted that I paid Mr Wilhoit much less, that was in reference to Mr Wilhoits comment which was the point of this thread. However, My current what would you take for your Iris Blue 95 5 Speed is more than your asking price. Then again, I am not what you would call a motivated seller.

In case anyone hasn't figured it out yet, RL is the worst place to put a f/s post. No matter the condition or price, your car will be picked apart.

Really! I've seen many a car posted on here F/S that were not only praised for the condition, and also told that they were selling for way too little.

I can't figure out the "unfairness" either. Mike is very knowledgable about the 928 market for very good cars, and this, like every other car is only worth what a buyer will pay for it. If it isn't worth that to any buyer then the current owner gets to keep it, or lower the price until it meets someone's value.

The market place is usually a pretty effective tool for sorting out value.

I tend to agree with neverlate on this. Even the 6000 mile black 86's asking price was dumped on when first posted. The 928 (well cared for examples) is a much better car than so many other's that command better pricing. Everyone should be happy that prices might begin to reflect the reality we know.

I do think that this forum is very hard on flippers.... especially if they are not part of the fold. 928 owners that filp the cars usually do alot of work themselves and do it right for the most part.

I think its in the interest of any high end seller that their own - and others - top dollar cars are appreciated by their new owners (and others serious about such cars - which honestly isn't most on this forum right?...) as a fair price & value for a truly exceptional/excellent product. Goal: no buyers remorse...

Lots of nosie about overpaying for what you got is not good for anyone at the top trying to establish top dollar market positioning for the very best of these cars...

Important for them to establish the difference between the best - and the rest...

Alan

First rule on 928 value is a PPI, has this one had a PPI?

Thank you for all your feedback. Yes I know I could liquidate my GTS today for in the high $30k low $40k range. However that’s not my intent. I would never part from this supercar for the price of a Honda Accord. I’m not a flipper. My first 928 was an 87 S4 that I owned 20 years ago and always missed. I always wanted a GTS. When this one popped up locally I jumped on it. The reason for the sale is personal but I’m not liquating it. I certainly wouldn’t have dumped $6k+ into making it mechanically as new if I intended to sell it. In my mind its worth a lot more than Honda money but my Ebay listing is just an opening offer. My beef is not with individual’s opinions of price but with Willhoits disclosure of privileged information that can do damage to value, because his opinion is valued as an expert GTS dealer. I feel he did it in bad faith as it can have no positive outcome.

To Willhoit:
As I said before in the spirit of fair competition and integrity you would never disclose a wholesale price to an outsider on a competitors’ car. I’m surprised and disappointed you would disclose it to the world on my sale. Currently my car is your only competition as far as excellent GTS’s on the market. So now you post again with more disparaging and misleading comments as GlenL wrote “to pee on my sale”. That’s the only conclusion I can draw also.

However, if you were instead trying to educate all of us, then please disclose your wholesale purchase prices on your GTS’s. Then we can all be properly and fairly educated apples to apples, wholesale to wholesale. You are the one that “sets the mark” on these cars as Iceman posted. Your opinion is in high regard here. As Marine Blue commented, “I was floored when I heard the price” regarding your cost related to the $107k GTS you sold. Notice how he didn’t disclose the price you paid? That’s common courtesy and he is not even a dealer. From his comment it is clear the margin is large. So again we need to know your delta between wholesale and retail to get a proper idea if I’m priced correct on retail, IF YOU are going to be fair.

I would never have had to waste the time beating this dead horse if when I sent you a message and politely asked you, “I would appreciate you removing your post ASAP on Rennlist about what price you tried to buy my 928 for two years ago. It is not helpful”. Your only response was “nope”. That’s a far cry from your attitude here on this public forum that you state you “hope you get what you are asking”. That’s hypocritical to say the least. You continue to say, “Don’t worry I am safe as most first time buyers are not on this site”. Why would I worry and why would you make that comment? Only because you know you posted disparaging comments about my sale.

Other members are welcome to say whatever they want about the value. That’s the spirit of the Forum. It is all speculation and up to the market in the end. However you are a licensed dealer held in the highest regard for your opinion on GTS value. Most importantly you have access to privileged information regarding my car. Additionally you are my only competition currently for a high end GTS for sale. So in the interest of fair competition and integrity please let us know your delta between retail and wholesale on your GTS’s. After all, don’t worry you are safe as most first time buyers are not on this site. Or just state the reality, your peeing on my sale.

I don't think this is something the public we needs to know.

If this information would be serve your intent, I suggest contacting MW privately.

Doing so may serve you on more than one end, and at the same time eliminate continued public dialogue, on a matter better suited for private discussion.
