So do we have a good generic replacement for the engine ground strap?

Is there any indication the original ones need replacing?

Maybe I will invest in a used one once the sale starts.

Engine Ground Strap is 928 612 011 00 and $17.27
Was the answer to the question in post number #3

The straps and heat shrink arrived and Sean is putting them together. Fitting them tomorrow to a few cars during the F1 practice.

Pretty

Roger, the amount of heat shrink you ordered should cover a couple dozen engine harnesses

Hi Rog – Yep, that’s the one. I don’t know how Aryan found that in the PET(!) Have fun at the race--wish I could be there...

When I googled the part number a different diagram comes up at AutoAlanta. There is also another ground strap for the ABS.

This one is the reason I started to look in to it last week. That's when these threads started to pop up/re-pop up. So thanks for that.

There are a lot of ground straps/wires on a 928. The main two are the battery and the block.

Roger just put a new one in his GTS and I cut away the shrink on the new one and it doesn't look all that good.

You cut the new strap?

That pic is showing simple surface rust - electrical current travels through the body of the strap - that surface rust is purely a cosmetic concern.
