LOL, yeah same car. It never overheated but I kept getting a low coolant light. Turned out to be that small diameter hose that goes from the overflow tank to the water bridge. I changed it on the side of the road somewhere between Alcoa TN and Banner Elk, NC. And I appreciate you guys sticking with me as long as you did. Even without the low coolant warning it would have been a heck of a task to try to keep up with you guys.
No, not this time. I did all of the metal work and most of the early prep work. John Kuhns brother Mark did all of the body work and paint so far. After painting my turbo car I wanted to stay as "hands off" as possible with this one. He does really good work.

Yesterday, Tampa 928s, his brother Carl, Mark Kuhn, and myself spent the day with the car. The plan was to remove the rest of the interior pieces so that I can crate them up and send them to Rob Budd. The car had other ideas. We got most of it out but we found that the A-pillars and the dash was inadvertantly glued in place by an overzealous windshield installer. So now I have to hire another glass installer to come out and remove the windshield so that we can cut the glue and get the dash free. I'm hoping they don't break the windshield in the process. It doesn't have any stone chips or cracks so I have no reason to want to replace it.
As you can see in the pics below, the wet sanding was started but couldn't proceed due to the clear needing more time to harden. It was gumming up the sand paper. The flat frontal area of the flare that falls just behind the doors will be cut to make a vent opening. I wanted this done before painting but it never got done. The ven't will eventually be plumbed to the rear brakes for cooling. It isn't necessary but at least the vent will be functional. I like the look of the vents but I don't want them to have a 100% cheese factor. ( Pics will be in added later since RL is telling me they are too large to load )
As you can see, the rear bumper cover has dual exhaust outlets in non stock locations. A new exhaust will be fabricated. At this point, I plan to fabricate some exhaust tips out of oval stainless pipe that will mimic the look of the tips on an early Cayenne Turbo. What do you think?

Your real name is Sterling isn't it?
Of all the body mods i would like to do to my car, having a dual exhaust with dual tips like that is top of the list.
My biggest fear looking at that would be cracking along any of the joints to the rear bumper area? Isnt there a special paint that goes on the plastic bumper that flexes somewhat?....was this sprayed over the entire car? how did you work around this when it all appears to be one piece?
Nice!

The car hasn't really progressed a whole lot since last time I posted. The interior is completely out of the car now and heading to Rob Bud. I picked up the hatch and glass from the tint shop so here is a pic with the hatch in place. It really helps me see the shape of the car. My impression of the car has improved alot since I put the hatch in place. I'm going to leave the wing off the car for awhile. I think it will work with the "shaved" nature of this build. I shaved and filled the side strips, rear wiper and antenna. In addition this car is getting aero mirrors so the wing may just take away from the lines of the car. I'm thinking about pulling the valance below the windshield and filling the wiper holes. I don't drive my cars in the rain on purpose and a little rain-X goes a long way. Am I crazy?
Edit: Rennlist wont let me post this picture. I'll see if I can host it elsewhere and post it a little later today. Sorry. I've posted the pic as my avatar for the time being.

Hi Brian, thanks for your interest. This car has been on hold for about 10 months or so. I've been focusing on the single turbo 16 valve car. The turbo project has gotten out of hand. It started as an engine management change, then flex fuel was added to the goal, then intercooling. At that point, since the power goals had moved upward, the intercooler that I had purchased a few years ago was no longer adequate. A larger intercooler is now being built but that adds other complexity due to fitment issues. In addition to that, I'm also contemplating a different turbo. The current turbo is a fairly old design. I believe I can fit a modern, higher flowing turbo in the same limited space. So the project just grows and grows. All of this is relevant to this thread because once the turbo system is "finished" it will be reproduced and installed on this widebody. The car cannot be "all show and no go". I'll try to post a turbo update with pictures in the next couple of days.
