Hey guys.. I posted some over the weekend when I joined, but didnt make a proper introduction.
My name is Dennis and I live in Lake Park, Georgia. I am fairly close to the Florida border. I am a fairly decent mechanic, and have built a 2000 mustang gt that I take to the race track in south Georgia. It is essentially a street "legal" drag car.
I am 43 years old and have owned various Porsches in my life. The 928 is the one I have always wanted. To me it is one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
I was browsing cars on ebay recently, and came across a 928 "project car". I ended up buying it for 1200 dollars. It is a 1980 US model. It needs some body work, paint, and has some electrical issues. Additionally, at the moment it turns over it does not start or run on anything but carb cleaner.
I have already been posting a ton of questions, trying to take advantage of the knowledge of senior members. I apologize if I ask too many questions, or seem to be a little frantic about the car. I am just very happy to have one, and would like to see it returned to its full glory.
I bought a non-running (burst clutch flex line) 1979 3 years back and have enjoyed the journey.
It too would start with fuel in the inlet but not stay running. In my case it was because the PO had begun trying to resolve the clutch issue and pulled brake master cylinder and hoses including vacuum lines at the brake booster. Once I put a bolt in that vacuum line she started and ran.
Might be something relatively simple and the CIS cars are pretty simple technology - Enjoy!
thanks guys. I want to thank you all in advance for any help you may give me. I am really hoping to get this thing running soon. I am more than likely going to swap out the motor for something with considerably more power eventually. I would however love to get this Porsche 4.5 running soon.
Larry, I am from satellite beach florida originally, and still go down to Brevard county often. I actually will be there this saturday reffing some cage fights.
