Cheap smoke machine for vac leaks

Burning Brakes
I just received one of these units, I'm looking forward to trying it. I like that it uses DC power.
For the 32v folks, I've read that the smoke can damage MAFs.

Where is the best place to attach the smoke output in the 32V engine?
MAF?
thanks-Hoi

Unless the later cars have a hot-wire MAF, instead of the barn door style that I've seen in the early L-Jet controlled ones, it shoudn't be a problem.
The reason to clean a hot-wire MAF is that the oil used for the fog can condense on the heated element and cause loss of accuracy due to contamination.

I should have been clearer in my query above.
I wonder why is the MAF the best place for the smoke output? I would think you'd want that as far from the MAF to limit the exposure to the smoke.

It was the easiest place to push the smoke with the adapter I made ^^^. I guess I could have used a solid cap to close off the MAF. Either would work. Ran the '86 over a hundred miles this past weekend. Ran great. Idles perfectly. Post #19 is correct. There was a lot of oily residue after the test. I'm sure by now it is out of the system by now.

I only had two leaks - the one mentioned above one from the MAF cap after not tightening the hose clamp sufficiently. The smoke machine instructions say to limit the smoke time to about 8 seconds each time. That was plenty of time to see them.
I know the unit costs more than DYI'ers would like to spend, but for me it's worth it. A couple of years back a local 928 mechanic struggled for days with a no start after a top end refresh. Turned out to be a loose hose under he manifold. A smoke machine would have figured that out quickly.
