it is a very rare color. these color combinations where mostly cars owned by leading members of the porsche factory. I have one of those. the interior color is the best you can get (imo)
Unfortunately my car was painted black 20 years ago. now I redid the paintjob completely but desided for another color. but I would not hesitate buying the car!!! http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...22912217_o.jpg
three things:
1. would it make you feel better if we promise to call it brown when you post questions here?
2. if you want, i give you permission to call it "Champagne"
3. i paid $8500 for one that needed A LOT LOT more work just from first blush than this does... so pretty much this ---->

my vote is buy it, giggle madly whilst driving it. if anyone says "why is your porsche that color?" you have may appropriately respond with "...and what color is your porsche?? oh you dont have a porsche??"
Having seen and worked on the car I can tell you it's Nougat Brown, not Cassisrot. If it were a 5-speed with LSD and sport seats it would not be for sale, it would be in my stable. That would be one of my perfect combinations, love the color!
You have worked on that car? Is there anything you could tell me about it? I have not owned a 928 yet, but I know they can get pretty expensive with repairs and maint... I'm guessing the timing belt will need done right off the bat.
There's plenty of NW folks that can help you with maintenance cost. Lots of threads that can get you there too if you can swing a wrench. Read up on the flex plate for the auto trasnmissions. IF left unchecked, it can lead to thrust bearing failure. Low mileage car should be good. TB is a doable job if you are handy.

Sorry for being negative on my first post, but the 2 in the 082904 odometer reading is out of line. This can be due to someone tampering with it. How confident are you about the mileage?
Other than that, looks pretty straight.
Hello. I have been looking for a nice 928s4 for a while, but in my area they are as rare as a mclaren.... This one is pretty close and seems very clean, but I don't really care for the color. Is this a rare color for a 928s4? It also has brown interior. i want one so bad that I am almost willing to make the sacrifice untill a nice one in a better color comes along (may be a long while).... I just don't want to be STUCK with it.....
He is asking $8500. Its an '87 w/ 83,xxxk miles, auto, No recent maint records. From an estate sale, but very clean....

Hmm. The car is from an estate sale so the guy selling doesn't know much about it. I have worked on quite a few cars, but heard 928's can be more difficult. I did the timing belt and front reseal on my '88 951 S without a problem as well as swapping turbos and such.
I'm guessing the timing belt will need done since he has no idea if it has or needs done....
Not sure, but they say 951 is harder to work on....So you shouldn't have any worries. Timing belt job is straight forward on a 928. Its best to drive several of them before you buy one. Are you sure you want an automatic?

Yeah. Not sure about the automatic, but It may be a nice change. I've got several standard cars sitting around. I've read both ways with the 928's. Some say the only way to have one is with the auto and others say the opposite... Just not much to choose from around here. There is one manual avail near me, but it's a '79....
Glad to hear the 951's are harder because it has been the hardest car to work on that I've had beside my TTZ's.....
