Guys...........I went from a full weight 44lb battery to a 24lb battery...savings of 20lbs.... yes the bumpers are hollow....but who cares...I don't plan on touching anyone...I "race" in my mind by 13/13 rules....if I EVER run in a group that require me to HIT other people, then I won't do it.....yes I want to win, but I will NEVER damage someone or PIT (cop term Pursuit intervention technique, which I AM trained in) to win....that's just dirty....if I have to use my BUMPERS to win, I don't want it...I want to beat someone straight up....after-all I am racing 928...not nascar...

Maybe you can borrow Kibbort's 6" hole saw and lose a few more pounds... Then the car will have "crumple zones" where it folds up in a hit.
Just kidding. I would be chucking out anything that didn't make it go or stop...

Race cars with a bunch of holes looks ghetto. Fill it with some lightenned OE parts so it at least looks good. The way it is, its starting to look like thayt wagon you guys built.

That's the thing, its _rarely_ up to you.

No racing requires you to hit people.
No racing requires you to pit people.

But..you're not racing at all yet. You're going to want those back in there.

Using the ends of your car is a tactic, not to hit..not to "move"...and like I said, you rarely get to decide if they're in play or not.

To put it in perspective..there is a lot of SOLID tap and such in racing...but it'll never leave a mark....with a bumper behind it.

Two cars connected complete a straight faster than either of them alone..cant do that with jello on both ends.

Remember, that you're also walking into increasingly deeper grass WRT spec based classes, where HP/Wt it a class deciding factor.

I'll ask you the same thing I ask Petty, hopefully you can get me an answer:

"What do you want to do?"

Then prepare for -that-. And..it will be unusually rare the decision you make that isnt an environment that will severely punish very soft things that used to be behind 20lbs of Aluminum bar.

Racing is all about occupying real estate. The softer your borders, the harder the challange from usurpers. Simulate bridge girder bumpers with painted kevlar, and your borders become terrifying to other drivers.

Years ago, I knew someone that ran a dirt super modified. They got tired of straightening & replacing the rear "bumper" / crossmember.
Their solution was to mount a mainleaf from a leaf spring crosswise. Never had to replace it again.
Maybe put one inside the bumper cover?

A better ??? is how much is 95lbs worth it terms of lap times? Two weeks ago when the car was carrying the extra weight, my best three laps were:

2:02.12 (personal best)
2:03.64
2:04.03

I think the weather conditions were better for the tires two weeks ago, since they LOVE heat, Friday was much cooler, but I had 5 laps in the 2:02's

2:02.30
2:02.28
2:02.66
2:02.64
2:02.75

plus another 8 in the 2:03's I feel confident saying the 95 lbs is a 1 second improvement....

I dont think it does, unless you're already at that Nth level of competition. (which will bring your lap times down below open-lap times short of being a leader far enough ahead to not deploy defensive tactics).

You need to concentrate on WHAT class you wanna race, then see if the points/weight-to-HP screw you or not...first.

Is it possible the weigh loss has compromised aerodynamics?
