Hey guys, I'm the registrar for the event. This is one not to miss. We always end up selling out. Believe we sold out in two weeks last year. We normally have a Friday night social inthe 'barn' with free food, beer and wine, a Saturday night dinner that's free for all entrants (you can buy extra tickets for the entourage) as well as a nice souvenir for all the drivers (I think last year it was a koozie with a photo of your car on it).

First two weeks of registration is for PCA members, then it opens up to the non-PCAers. You can bring a non-Porsche to the event. No open wheel cars though.

Please PM me with your contact info because I know he will ask for it, too, before actually signing us up.

Should be great! A track Frenzy!

Default Sharks on Track March 15-17

Here it comes....

Registration for the VIR DE event starts for PCA members

Monday , January 14th, 2013 at 8:00 pm EST sharp

non PCA members gotta wait til Jan 21st

Good reason to join PCA ...$46.00..... don't want to be put on a wait list

Register thru MotorsportReg.com ...look for the PCA Zone 2 event at VIR

Good time to visit the Zone 2 and MotorsportReg.com sites and get familiar

Manny Alban may have additional advice on this...

Gotta have a Helmet...Snell 2005 or newer...Fire Rated...not motorcycle

Gotta get it Tech Inspected no sooner than 4 weeks ahead of event

Track Insurance is available thru Lockton Affinity...

Best Western on S. Boston in Danville, VA. is where I stay...ask for Race Rate

Travel from the DC area is 4.5 hours..pretty much going down on Thursday, Mar 14th.....

Sunday is plenty of time to get back after last session..

Be nice to get a dozen Sharks running together

Let me know if you have questions.... Kevin In VA

4.5 hours from DC?! You walking? Should take about 2-3 hours at most.

Thanks for the rest.

Considering it is over 200 miles and I am hauling a trailer down US 29
thru C'ville and then Lynchburg...4.5 is the conservative estimate

Fast driving is for the track.....which is the whole point.....

Default Sharks at VIR March 15-17

OK....
so I filled you in with the details for VIR Zone 2 PCA DE in March...

Here's the GLITCH....

Those wishing to sign up for any PCA DE event must have:

1) Participated in 3 Auto cross events

OR

2) Completed the High Performance Driving Clinic..HPDC
as a PCA member.

A Log Book from PCA will have these events notated and
a driver cannot sign up for a DE til one these have been completed.

I will check with PCA about all of this .....

Chesapeake is the sponsoring region

More later........

Hurricane Sandy landed a tree on my trailer and destroyed it! In search for another one. Not looking good to go right now.

I've never seen these requirements before. In my past experience, if you have no background, they pair you with an instructor in the green run group.

+1. Never heard of such requirements.

And you're right about the distance. For some reason I thought it was a lot closer! Though 200 miles in 4.5 hours is, what, about 45 mph? Oy. I will waive while I pass (going the speed limit of 55).

OUCH. No insurance help on that? Hope you can make it. Take the train to Baltimore and I'll give you a ride down.

I am just going by what PCA Potomac has issued as prerequisites
for participation in DE events.....there may be differing policies
with PCA Chesapeake as far as attending DE events.

I defer to Manny Alban as the sponsoring registrar for Chesapeake.

VIR has no policy as long as a qualified Instructor is onboard a Green
Group/ Novice driver car.

National has a set of minimum standards that all regions in PCA who host a DE must comply with. More often that not, the regions have increased those standards. A good example is clothing. In the south, it's not usual to find regions that allow short and short sleeve t-shirts. In the northeast, that's normally unheard of. The National standards simply require closed toed shoes.

Here are the Zone 2 DE requirements
http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...2#.UOHkqG_AcrU

In short, no previous experience is required for this event

Thanks Manny for clarifying this for me....I guess the Potomac crew has
their own set of requirements......
You can look at the PCA Potomac web site and go to DE section to see the
policy.....
