Too far to travel for me, I'll stick to the glen for the time being. Amazing what having a wife/kids/full time job do to my free time for track events......

Anyone friends with Tom Faulkenburg down your way in Virginia? Maybe we can persuade him to come out with his supercharged stroker "Big Bird" race car! I would love to see that go around VIR at speed!

Very tempting! I've actually never driven VIR.
At this time I'm 50% sure I can make it. I would be available to instruct.

Might be tempted to bolt in in the passenger seat

John, that would be fantastic. As an instructor, though, you ride in the student's car. You drive in the assigned run group in your own car and without a passenger, unless you want one. Lord knows I'd love a ride! (edit: looks like you knew that.... )

I've instructed for PCA for many years. Actually I'm a PCA National DE Instructor Corps member.

Typically a student can take a ride in the instructors car one run group higher than the students group. BUT, ever region has there own rules

I took a VERY eye opening ride with my instructor at The Glen last week. So, yes, please by all means bolt in a seat!!!

So far I count 7. Hoping to get to 10. John, having you there as an instructor will be a huge boost to making sure we get these slots, so huge thanks!

are there minimum age requirements for students at these things? I'm 16 and will hopefully have my liscence and parent's permission by then. I watched a few of the 928 racing videos the other day and was like "I WANT TO TRY THAT!"

Unfortunately, the minimum age for PCA track days is 18. Soon! I would still recommend coming to the track, though, to get a feel for the experience. There is always something going on, and I'm guessing that if there's classroom time, they'd let you sit in on that. If not this event, maybe one closer to you? NJMP?

That's what we do at First Settlers. Our Spring DE is 17-19 May. So once you get hooked on VIR in March, come back in May.

We also have a DE Intro option, for those on the fence about DE. For $50, you get a class and one session on the track with an instructor in your right seat. We even have loaner helmets. And, as a registered participant, you can ride along with an instructor as John describes any time during the event.

well that kind of sucks if I cant participate . but it would be a nice oppurtunity to watch and hopefully they will let me watch the classroom instruction if I am able to make it. otherwise I'll try to get to NJMP for a similar event. can't wait for 2014 now!
