Default Interesting 1986 Euro for sale

Notice only the driver seat is a sport seat. I wonder if it is a 16v or 32v motor?
Is the rootwood trim an option back then?
Also looks to be an '86.5 from the jackpoint.

With the customized ordering system at Porsche, you could do a sport seat on just one side. Maybe the guy had a fat wife!

Like the car, personally haven't seen an 86 Euro 16V LH, by that time it seemed they were all getting the 288 hp 32V motor.

Don't expect a 16v LH. Also, it has rear A/C. Likely a 86.5 with a 32v.

ALL 86 model Euros were fitted with the updates chassis and "S-4" suspension and brakes ! Porsche used up left over 1985 parts for the USA market on the first 1,000 1986 cars. The USA 1985-86 5 liter was TESTED in the USA cars before Porsche revised and updated (read fixed) a few things before going worldwide in 1987. They did offer the green option in Europe and used SOME early 32 valve engines but it was rare.... Also few later Euro were imported for a number of reasons but mostly because there was little difference in HP or looks by 1985 ! Then when the 1987 model came out they 85-86 cars were now OLD !

Rear AC makes it very unlikely to be from Europe. I could go search the database to check, but odds are its from a hot country

I'd say its most likely from the Middle East, in which case it probably is a 16V car.

Looks nice, but I suspect its a 32v, and the 50k is what is showing on the US odometer, not total miles. Somebody should check it out, I don't recall seeing this car mentioned before. 50k is also due for a major service, but seems odd brakes would not be fixed unless its something weird wrong with them.

Ok.. I just checked.

Here's the results for the number of LHD 1986 cars with rear AC outside the USA, by engine type and country code:

COUNT(*) EngineCode CountryCode Description
19 M28.21 C00 Germany
19 M28.22 C00 Germany
9 M28.45 C00 Germany (32V)
11 M28.46 C00 Germany (32V)
2 M28.21 C05 France
1 M28.22 C05 France
2 M28.44 C08 Japan (LHD) (32V)
1 M28.22 C09 Sweden
1 M28.22 C10 Switzerland
2 M28.46 C10 Switzerland
1 M28.22 C20 Holland
1 M28.22 C21 Norway
2 M28.21 C27 Spain
2 M28.22 C27 Spain
11 M28.21 C31 Saudi Arabia
45 M28.22 C31 Saudi Arabia
3 M28.21 C99 Special
3 M28.22 C99 Special

So it could be 32V - I'm surprised how many Germany '86 cars have rear AC. (Also surprised how many Swedish and Norwegian cars have it )

There was a euro 85 86 with a 16 valve motor I believe for sale a couple years ago in California. Pictures were posted in one of the sharktoberfest threads. Exterior color was some dark color and the interior was champagne. Only the drivers seat was a sport seat. He did had the interior redone if I remember correctly so maybe he did the mod himself. It was a 5 speed and asking price was around 16000, pretty good looking car. If you look at one of the older sharktoberfest threads (2009-2011) you should be able to find the photos....

That also looks to be a pearl white exterior color, must be a very rare combination...Wish it was a 5 speed.

Interior picture - if you look at the clock you will see the temp control for the rear a/c just to the right of the clock.

count(*) enginecode
488 M28.21
1004 M28.22
807 M28.43
2080 M28.44
109 M28.45
306 M28.46

There are about 1500 16V '86's - all of them have S4 suspension/brakes.

All the '86 16V engines are 10.4:1 compression running LH2.2 and EZ-F and are the 310hp rated cars (i.e. rated by the factory for 22 more hp than the 32V). They were all that was available outside the USA, Japan, Germany, Australia and Switzerland.

The German, Swiss and Australian 32V are the M28.45 and M28.46 - which are lower compression "smog" engines, with 9.3:1. The German ones sometimes show up as grey imports in the USA - which this car may well be one of.

Some of the M28.43 and M28.44 are Japanese delivered cars - they got the same engine type as the USA.
