I had something nearly as ugly happen. I had a garage door that was hinged on each side with springs that streched when the door was down.
Parked in the stall was my Mangusta. One day, I looked at the door & 1 spring was missing.
Blind luck- the thing went over the rear bodywork, past the windshield & landed in the front trunk area.
The trunk lid was off so I could put better fans on.
Cost of repair= 1 spring. Rear clamshell glass was NLA & repro windshield was something like $2500-. Wow did I get lucky- hope you come out OK.

I had bicycles hanging from hooks on the ceiling in back of garage....heard a crash and came out to the garage to see two bikes on the front hood with hanger that pulled out of the ceiling. I only had a small scratch from the screw holding the hanger and no dents. Dodged a big bullet there!!!

Hope this helps to save some cars who do not have this safety wire installed in the garage door springs.

That's what happens when a contractor doesn't really know where the studs are and just kind of screws it in. you can see the nail or screw holes where the mud was slathered on. I am betting he missed all the studs and just had a screw or two (or nail) holding the sheet up. Only thing keeping it there was the joint tape.

Yes, after lightning struck my house a couple months ago. It rattled the shop and fried the flat screen, and other misc. electronics. I noticed the drywall on my daughters red 944, mine being white not so much.

They now make a safety wire that you thread through the spring and anchor the ends to the door support and the support at the middle of the garage. So when, not if, the spring breaks it will not fly all over the garage.

Off topic but I know a guy with a 1970 Mangusta that restored it beautifully. The last thing he put in the car was the drivers seat. He realized he doesnt fit in the car with the seat in it. So about ten years ago he pushed it into the corner of his garage and built a shelf over it. Its been there since.

player Rick Barry had a Pantera & they just dropped the floor pans to add room. Wish I had mine back. Sold it when they didn't bring all that much & now I can't justify paying what it would cost to get another one.
