I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone had manhole covers reanodized? I’ve seen other threads talking about it, but none where someone has actually had it done.

I think they would look good if they were black on a black car. You could use that new Plasti-Dip stuff on some old scratched up manhole covers for a cheap solution. I hear you can just peal it off within a couple days of putting it on before it cures fully if you don't like the look. I don't know about durability though, it'll probably look like garbage in a couple months due to brake dust and road grime.

I made a call a few months ago to our local anodizer about redoing some fuchs. for whatever reason they wouldn't touch them.. though our shop gets other aluminum parts anodized all the time. ? I also would like to hear a success story.

Because they had bent over backwards on developing the 928's very advanced aerodymanics, and these wheels were more of the same.

I like Manholes they look cool in motion, like a ghost wheel (no spokes).

I agree with some as far as 'hiding' the beautiful brake calipers , but as far as a strong (Forged) light (weight) wheel these are some of the best factory wheels that were available . Ahead of their time and timeless.

..., after reading all these threads on "Manholes" I feel like I should,nt have sold mine and bought Cup 1,s..., I must admit and no joke, that I had been considering what it would be like to go back to originality with the "Manholes" ?
Funny thing is.., I just might., as there are quite a few folk with 928,s in the UK who would take my arm off, for a swap ?
Does anyone think it would be a retrograde step ?

Cup I's are cool. If you decided to get Manholes try to get them from an 87+ car with the staggered offset. Wider rear wheel and the rear looks cooler than the front.

I believe the 87+ cars came with 7 inch front 8 inch rear manhole wheels.

I can understand where you're coming from, Ken. I have been contemplating selling mine but this thread has not only convinced me to keep them but I think I'm going to have them chromed.

Keep the Cups and buy a set of manholes and you can switch them whenever. If you trade it will only be a matter of time before you miss the cup wheels.

Darren., I was thinking I should have kept my originals.., however they were only the 7inch type.., so not too bothered I don,t have them anymore, as the S4,s with wider rear track look better...., H,mmm ?

I saw some on ebay but I'm not sure about shipping to the UK. You could probably find a reasonably priced set local to you, no?

I am definitely keeping mine now. It will be nice to swap them out with the cups now and then. Instead of going on someone else's car they are going to the wheel shop to get chromed!
