Default 928 Local Help Needed with cluctch issue - Alexandria VA

I just bought a '79 928 and dealt with a few bugs already. However the clutch pedal is springing to the down position and staying there. If I pull it up, it will spring to the up position, and stay there. It is not engaging the clutch mechanism. I've checked brake fluid which looked to be either low or empty (didn't see anything in the reservoir) when I got the car. I topped up the system, but this didn't change anything. I didn't bleed the system yet.

Is anyone in Alexandria, VA or DC area that would mind jumping out for a day for some burgers and beer?

Any advice is also welcome.

Thanks

you would best be served to replace the master cylinder,
the slave cylinder
and the flex hose ,
the blue hose,
and the bushing on the top of the release arm.

This will put your system back to optimum operation and should work well for many years

any time an old 928 clutch hydraulic system is damaged its best to start over,
since fixing it the first time is such a PITA ,
why not take away the possibility of future failures for a long time.
In the long run its way more cost effective.
Short term it might not look so...
usually this idea isnt realized till after the second or fifth time that you have to rebleed the clutch.

Dont forget to inspect the old MC piston,
the new part may need to be modified to get a full stroke from the MC.
As well as shortening the spring inside the MC.

Roger sells the blue hose make sure to replace it

At this point he has no idea if he even has a car ! never driven it since it has no clutch. So bleed it check for leaks....find out if the clutch will work, if the trans will shift gears, how long it will run before overheating , how the brakes work etc. Then decide on a restoration budget......

Kevin will be able to help debug this one, but it's true, likely all the hydralic bits need replacing.

I'm with James on this one. Get the car drivable, and see if it is worth fixing...

Kinda was my thoughts on this one...
go over and check stuff that will get it to move and see what happens next.....
also going to check everything before any driving occurs.....

you know.....leaking fuel.....the usual stuff........

Still have not heard back yet...a little busy this week with Frenzy 16....
