Regarding thermostat:

I had noticed slightly higher water temp for around a year. (3-4ºC).

Suspecting thermostat, I got a new one in connection with replacing my cambelt and failed waterpump.
Now temps are back to normal again, so obviously the thermostat was the culprit.

If yours hasn't been changed recently (mine was at least 5 years old), I would do it, as it's very cheap and you're 'in there' anyway.

Regards,
Erling

Not sure if they are cheaper, but they are cheaper than buying directly from Porsche. They know 928s pretty well.

No. He is burning the Tea Party Constitution. Well done, Doc. "And for that we all thank you."

If the pulley is removed from the waterpump, there's a leakage exit hole in the housing of the pump behind it. Normally, you won't be able to see it. It's facing upwards (which I don't understand) and when the waterseal inside the pump fails, the bearings could still be fine for a while, so you won't be able to feel any play. The water will flow via the seal through the hole behind the pulley and will collect inside the pulley, dropping from inside, as can be seen in one of your pictures, I believe. In this case, the bearings will soon be toast. I have made pictures of my pump when I took it apart. You can see it in my post https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...rpump-diy.html

Here's a picture or two for OP:

Upside down but note telltale rusted water and also less visible is splash stains behind pulley.

Note side by side (old/new) and new one with weep hole (visible) @ 5 o'clock. Pulley on the left is slightly raised too ie..migrating

Hi Chris,
I just checked and I have not received any emails from you in a few months.
Best regards,
Roger
