Default Victor's Rotrex Supercharger Kit - Group Buy?

I've been in contact with Victor ("victor25") about arranging a group buy for his supercharger kit. Victor's website shows an 89 928 S4 with a Stage I kit on a dyno putting 480 hp to the wheels! Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that's roughly 565 hp at the crank!

He's currently charging $4995 for the complete kit (plus shipping; ~$50), which includes:

Rotrex Superchager,
Mounting bracket,
Belt,
tensioner,
matched 36lb injectors,
new fully assembled high quality lightweight braided fuel lines & connectors,
replacement drivers side fuel rail,
custom fueling chip, (Sharktuned chip)
black silicon hoses & connectors, (different colors available for more $)
aluminium pipes,
pressure release valve (bov),
K&N high flow filters with enclosed recirculating air system (Kuhn snout)
& some other odds and ends to complete the kit

See http://www.vcbengineering.com/ for more info.

A couple of other rennlisters have this kit and are so far very happy with it. The ease of install looks pretty remarkable, and it also comes back off pretty easily, too.

If we can get 5 buyers together, we're looking at 10% off ($4500). 8+ buyers = 15% off ($4250). Both plus shipping. I might also be able to cut the shipping costs if I'm the distributor.

If you're interested, please reply here or PM me.

Cheers,
Mike

That would be a pretty good deal.

Mike, would that include kits for 85/86 cars? I wasn't sure if they were done yet with that kit yet. I am extremely interested and you can put me on the tentitive list but I am a little skeptical of the rwhp number at 6psi and no intercooler. Has anyone else recorded similar numbers?
How about you Sean, did you ever finish the Sharktune and dyno your car?

I believe it's just S4's and newer.

Have not dyno'd or come close to final tune. Been waiting for the air filter set up so I can quit sucking hot air in from behind the radiator. Also been too dang busy to give it a lot of thought though either. New fuel pump last week and a bit of tuning on Tuesday showed some good results. I need to find a stronger belt tensioner though for the supercharger, the belt starts to slip after 4800rpm.

I gotta be honest those numbers seem to good to be true without being intercooled. Anyone who has this kit spare to speak up? I might be interested in this for my cassy 928.

I think he was working to get the thumbs-up from Mark Anderson to bring a few sets to Sharktoberfest for installation there.

Truly, this is....3-4hrs tops with two good hands, the hard part being the fuel injectors/rail work.

Sean, would a light blasting of the pulley grooves be of any assistance? Machined/polished/anodized..and its not a real "grabber".

?

Stage 1 being 6 psi IMO I doubt could do 480rwhp.
The math just isn't there......

I'm not sure on that, might not hurt. Part of it is the reservoir location, it would seem that mine likes to burp a bit of oil and guess where it drips, right on the belt. Not saying that is the issue but it sure isn't helping. I'm going to relocate the reservoir someplace else.

Mike, we should set the record straight here. Yes the dyno sheet for my car said 481hp and 426tq. BUT that was my car after a lot of tuning, a supermaf setup, different exhaust, and I let it go past 6lbs of boost, and yes no intercooler but a cool Michigan day, not Texas temps.
The stage 1 kit comes with a 80mm pulley to keep the boost from climbing to high. I guarantee you will get up to and over 450 crank HP no problem. The s4 is good up 450hp without any issues, beyond that things can get tricky. The biggest is the MAF, it's only good up to about 450, beyond it tuning gets a little weird.
