In need of a good alignment shop, Long Island, NY
I'm looking for a trustworthy alignment shop, preferably in eastern Suffolk Long Island, but if it's a good shop that is highly rated I'll go into Nassau. If anyone can recommend a good shop I'd appreciate it. The last alignment shop (Midas in Riverhead) did a four wheel alignment before I went to SITM but in looking at the inside of my NEW front tires a couple of weeks ago they had no idea of what they were doing. Thanks

I haven't been locally, but any shop w/Hunter is as sophisticated as it gets. As long as they understand not to raise tires off ground (which that system doesn't) then you are good to go, the computer tells the tech everything. You said you got new tires, I'm guessing at Midas and they didn't drive it to settle and then you get excessive toe-in. Any time it is lifted it will sit high. "Porsche has a tool for that" or you can drive it on rough road for 5 miles, YMMV. Smooth, it make take 50.

Believe it or not, I'm going to print out the docs here and bring it over to Sears Auto Center in Hicksville.
I've heard the guys at the location are all semi-retired from shops and dealers and are car guys.
They have the latest Hunter machines and that is key. No lifting.

Mickster,
In addition to lifting I think the other key componant to this is making sure you get a before and after print-out of the alignment. I asked for a print-out after they completed my last alignment, that's when they told me the printer was broken

The Porsche dealership in Southampton wanted $275, which I would have paid except they had to ask if they were able to do 928's, IMO $425 is rich for an alignment.

Pete,
I need to get it done before Frenzy so it will need to be either Friday or Saturday this week for me which may give me enough time. Let me know how you make out, I'd much rather come up by you as I can visit HF while I'm up there. I never miss an opportunity to buy another cheap tool I really don't need
