I got a pair at OCIC. They work well and I don't "see" them. Great price too! Thanks Jerry

As to packing these for shipping, I find that I can buy a 2 by 4 stud for about $2.29 and then cut it into four pieces--three about 26 inches and the drop of about 18 inches. Then I can take each piece and cut two slabs off of one side of each of the 26 inch pieces about a half inch thick and rip the 18 inch drop into the same half inch slabs. Then I set the fence on my band saw and turn the 2 and a half inch remainder of the 26 inch pieces up on the narrow side and rip them into about 10 thin strips a little more than an eighth inch thick by 2 1/2 inches wide. Then I reset the fence and cut the half inch chunks into about 3/4 inch strips. Then I cut the 26 inch long half inch by 3/4 inch strips in half. Then I glue a piece of the half by 3/4 inch strips into the middle of the thin wide strips and end up with about 30 stiffeners to pack these gap filler with to keep them from getting bent double in the mail.

The mailing tubes will cost about 2.50 to 3.00 each, so I am saving a little less than a hundred bucks doing it the way I am doing it, and it only takes me about an hour to do all the sawing and gluing, and what else do I have to do with my time? Yes, I know--- the WW liners!!!

Thanks everyone for the very positive feedback about these Gap Filler Strips. I designed them almost solely as a cosmetic solution to the gap, but based on comments I received at OCIC 12 about these I see that there is an expected collateral benefit in respect to reduced wind noise at speed.

In fact I think I discovered in installing some of these that at some point the factory also discovered the need to do something about part of the gap--the little opening at the top that lets the water flow into the rain gutter over the top of the door area--that I suspect was making some significant noise at speed. What I have found is that in many of the cars I put these in/on there was a short piece of rubber weather stripping stuffed into the gap at the top apparently to close the opening. I am pretty sure that was factory installed because the weather strip I pulled out of several 928s was almost exactly the same; but oddly, I only found that on the driver's side.

Anyway, thanks again for the feedback; and sorry about the 2 by 4 discussion. I just didn't want Wally P to think I was being wasteful in some way about getting these in the mail.

Thanks, too for the one's who have bought some of these. I will get the latest couple of orders in the mail later this morning.

FYi..i was running around for a while with...uh....black electrical tape sealing that gap! I wanted to see if it changed anything. It actually made a noticeable difference in sound. Of course it only lasted a few months.
Im sure your design cuts the noise also, and is obviously more durable.
Nice product!

Actuallty at OCIC 12 while I was looking around for a good candidate 928 to "hide" a pair of these Gap Fillers for the Saturday button, button, whose got the button, contest I was pretty surprised to see the number of cars with various kinds of material already put into the gaps to try to fill them up. That is the first time, aside from the older thread being resurrected, that I had some indication about just how important filling these gaps might be to so many 928 owners.

For some of you on the fence about ordering some of these, if you are going to SF 12, I plan to bring some of these with me and will be happy to help you put them in your car if you want to buy a set while we are there.

Default Gap Filler with dull finish

For those who are most concerned about the somewhat glossy look of the pebble texture of these Gap Filler Strips, as produced, I have taken some fine steel wool to one of them to see what the difference might be. Here are some pictures of one as produced next to one with the finish dulled with steel wool.

These pictures are also taken out of the direct sunlight and without a flash, so the one as produced looks a little more like is actually appears.

The last picture shows my packaging system as previously described in part.

Order placed.

I didn't realise you lived in Grand Junction. I love the sculptures down the main street, was only there for a stop over so didn't see much.

Thanks, Michael, for the order. Send your mailing address seperately since it doesn't show up with the payment for some reason.

We here in Grand Junction consider this place Colorado's best kept secret, for several reasons, not just the Art on Main Street.

Jerry, are you going to be at 3rd Coast?

If so, I would imagine you would bring a few sets of these.
