A 3/4" pull handle, extension and socket works much better than any 1/2" set-up. I have sheared a Craftsman 1/2" extension cleanly in two, then removed the same bolt easily with a 3/4" set-up. Even Harbor Freight tools work fine for this...
As mentioned above, do not try this with the engine on a stand! It is surprisingly easy to turn that puppy over on the floor.

Three Wheelin'
Well mine is on a stand right now, guess i might have to use ratchet straps suspended from a few rafters to stop it from rotating. Or put it on the ground laying it on one bank of cylinders, then having someone sit on it (or a couple people lol).
What kind of pre-treatment of the bolt should be done? How common is it to break this bolt?
