Ok,
Some of the preliminary scheduling of events for Sat. Oct. 6th at the track at Daytona.
-Autocross will be on both Sat. & Sun.; entry fee is $30, will clarify if that is each day or per day(think maybe per day). I plan to autocross on Sat.
-Concours will be Sat., from 10am-12 noon. Cost is $15. That covers everyone getting a ribbon & trophies for those awarded.
-Track Touring is from noon-1pm(as in you get to drive around the track at Daytona, including the infield road course); cost is $10 with the money going towards a charity. Right now they expect possibly running two groups with everyone maybe getting 5 laps. Keep in mind, you cannot drive up on the banked turns & you cannot slow down then speed up. I know, not as much fun, but hey you can say you drove on Daytona & how many wish they could say that!
-Lunch at the track is from 1pm-2pm, buffet style; cost is $15.
-PCA Racing will be going on Fri., Sat. & Sun.
All events will be available to register soon at the web site of www.ClubRegistration.net. I recommend you search by date(Oct. 6th). The events will show as being the OktoberFast at Daytona with PCA. The autocross is the only event showing right now & registration is not yet open. I'll keep everyone posted when the site is ready for registering as plans are still be finalized.

If it helps... we have a lot of people in this forum with years of experince in this field. Would it help you make a decision if we offered some suggestions, opinions, encouragement?
I'm sure we can come up with a 'win-win' somehow

Well it would be a good way to start the marriage & off right in her becoming a 'car chick'. Always helps when she's on board with attending car functions, purchases, etc.

The 928 goes into the paint booth at the end of October though

I just wanted to put the word out that I will be attending. I actually pulled my car off the road over the weekend and started tearing it apart to begin the Megasquirt conversion when I remembered that I need to be in Daytona on Oct. 6th. I cannot afford to miss this event so I've decided to put that project on hold for a few weeks. I'll be there with the turbo car and Tampa928s should be with me as well. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Seems like there are alot more 928/Rennlisters in Florida than I originally thought.
Are any of you part of Spacecoast or Suncoast PCA? I travel to both because I live in Suncoast and have family in Spacecoast.

I see the Club Registration website has the 'multi-event' catagory open for registration now for those wanting to concours, drive & dine, track lap and lunch.
Mel, is the concours something that us 'well driven but still pretty' cars want to get into, or are we competing against the pros?
For $10 to take a lap on Daytona Speedway is gotta be one of the best bargains around for us non-racers.
See you next week-end

It certainly makes for some fine photo-ops. As far as the concours is concerned you should get the green light. Remember, there are seldom-used categories the casual entrant can aspire to. One of my favorites is "most appealing placement of dash cracks". Another is the "obscene negative camber category" which falls under wishful thinking . Also "sexiest @ eye chart distance" comes to mind. G

I think the best time I've ever had at a P-car gathering was when George and I crashed the PCA concouse event at the St. Pete yacht club just so we could have a good parking space for the ALMS race. We spent a good part of the day coming up with off the wall categories that we could win such as "best use of an undersized wheel" , "Most appealing placement of dash cracks", "Nicest car that wasn't invited", etc. Good times indeed.

The undersized wheel one was a real crowd pleaser. I think we had em on the ropes for a while. I'm planning on attending and wanted to get a feel for when folks will arrive and how long and where they might stay. Also, how many do you see as real possibilities? Thinking about bringing the camper but may have tire issues. Give me a call when you get the chance Shawn and maybe we can come up with something interesting. G

That said, some have some fantastic cars. We were just in a Car Show at the TPC in Ponte Vedra Beach last Sunday with the wife's '91 928 & our 968 cab; the winner of the Porsche category was a pristine '59 356 that looked like it was just off the show room.
I say if you want to enter do so cause there will likely be no other 928s unless some of our own enter & it'd be good to have representation. Yours would be stiff competition for any others entered of any model.
