what Rear wheel spacers are best?
I have a 1982 with 16 in phone dials and the rear wheels really do sit back in quite a bit compared to the fronts. What size spacers are best to bring those out without rubbing anything? What do I need to know about if I want to space the wheels out concerning studs or anything like that? Your help is appreciated.
I did a search for rear wheel spacers and there were no posts that explained what size was best. I am a newbie and my car is not yet to my garage because I have another in the way. I have to make special trips to go look at it.

25mm is probably the max you should go, the longer they get the harder it is on all of the suspension components. Make sure you get hubcentric and that you have proper thread engagement on the lug nuts otherwise use ones with studs. I also wouldn't go over 5mm without studs, but to each there own. I run 3mm spacers in front of mine and no need to be hub centric at that length, but any more and you definitely need it.
Hope that works.

Found a post about 1.5" on another forum
I just looked elsewhere and someone had pics of what the 1.5" spacers would do. Would these hurt anything in terms of geometry or undue stress on bearings or anything?

My 84 has the factory 22mm spacers in the rear. You could probably pick a set of them up pretty cheap. Really you are going to want some 10" wide rear wheels though. That makes a lot bigger difference to the look of the rear of the car.

.... but they won't work on an 82 without changing the studs.

I don't know if these are good or bad and I am not endorsing them but here you go:

Edit:
I don't know why this link goes to Nisson. When I paste it into Word, it goes to 928.

I put 28 mm spacers on with my 16" phone dials 2 years ago, and they perform beautifully, and the wheels fill the wells nicely. No issues at all. They come with studs - the spacer is mounted to the hub, then the wheel is mounted to the spacer.

Thanks!
Gentlemen: Thanks for the many replies. I am learning more daily here on this forum and I appreciate it. I am just learning now. So...Tony...thanks and feel free to sell those to depami. I am just trying to understand what is going on. I bought a nice set of used Halibrand replicas for my Cobra build and had and offset correction needed in the rear. So I had to use spacers wide enough to require the spacers with new studs. So, I have experience there. There seems like a TON of room between the wheel/tire and the fender in the rear, so I am thinking i will likely get the wider ones when the time comes. Along with removing the GOLD paint (if you can believe that) and repainting the wheels. The front seems to be sticking out pretty far already...maybe there are some spacers already on front??? I need to look closer. Again...thanks to all for the information! Greatly appreciated. You guys rock.

There shouldn't be any spacers on the front, and correct wheel offset there is important to maintain correct front end geometry. Here is an article that you should find helpful, as it sets out all the standard wheel and tyre sizes, and gives commentary on alignment setup, offsets, etc. ... http://www.landsharkoz.com/forms/928wheels.pdf

Three Wheelin'
You can also have custom spacers made without much trouble or cost. I've had some 1.25" ones made up by someone who you can find on ebay.
You can also have wheels custom made nowadays by CCW and not bother with spacers but that's another story!
