Default A cautionary rubber tale!!

Hi Guys;

Here's a set of pictures to show the importance of checking rubber hoses at regular intervals.

The first picture shows a length of rubber hose that i put on my engine during an extensive top end refresh, about 2 years ago. Due to "Project silp" the engine has only run for approx 1/2 hour in total since. I Had to remove the tube today to run new brake lines and found what you see in pictures 2 and 3. It looks like the tube was made in 2007 but i certainly have not had it for that long and it has only been in my workshop or on the car, ( outside but covered).

Geoff.

That hose is specifically for diesel or carb cars, not rated for fuel injection.

By your title I thought you were going to picture a bunch of rug rats crawling around.

Does it say, "Made in China" anywhere on it? I have not had good results from Chinese rubber goods.

Neither has China, hence their population problem.

Good reminder for me.

Another rubber story;

Was watching science channel about moon machines;

NASA engineers made a pee pouch which used a condom to go pee in space. They created sizes small medium large. Astronauts would always say they were large of course. NASA had to change sizes to large huge and humongous. Large worked then. So funny.
