Well I asked a couple of questions on the "Trustee Banned" thread and they killed it - does that make me a thread killer 8>)

How about Owners Club for the 928 ?

I've tried to keep my feet clear of the brown layer so far. Continuing that thought, I want to remind folks that the OC is a loose organization made up of LOTS of MEMBERS, not just the elected officers. It's a support network of many of your friends, folks you know from this RL forum, and people you've met through OC forums and events.

Please don't base your decision to be part of the OC solely on what I perceive as cat-fighting and posturing. It's not at all what the OC is about. Just as we don't renounce our citizenship over campaign issues, because we are part of a bigger group that is truly interested in the mutual support needed to make ownership possible. Trust me, without the network of friends I made through the OC, this forum and its predecessors, I'd probably be driving a small Merc sedan with a V8 kompressor motor in it. Don't push me to that!

Hi James,

FWIW I care. Please don't get an unfavorable impression of the 928OC as a Club...there just seems to be an issue with a few people. As a whole the 928OC concept and the members are worth the effort to get through this transition period.

IMHO, there should be NO President or Vice President , it should only have elected Board Members (along with an elected Sec/Tres) and run much like a typical Town Council or County Commission type situation....this takes the "Ego' out of the equation, doesn't give any one person way to much control, and would make for a much more stable Club.... sort of like a real Round Table situation with no single person "in absolute control" as it is now.

Not that I have a dog in the hunt anymore, but at each opportunity I will lobby current/future Board Members, Officers and Members to at least consider discussing something like this for the future.

Cheers,

Dave

My thoughts exactly, and why Im not a member.

No 'one' needs to run a community organization.

DR,
Very well put and I would be in favor of that totally.
I hope I do not get voted in as a trustee and if I do will resign asap. I do not need to be on the Board to continue supporting the OC. Far better for people such as Wally and Barbara to be trustees.

So I wasted a vote? Double-gosh-darn... The OC needs a leadership of do-ers, not talkers, critics and snipers. Lead by example.

In the meanwhile, I'm just not seeing where we need more than an odd number of trustees, or maybe a Chief Justice who's sole purpose is to act as a tie-breaker. I that same meanwhile, the system we have works fine with the right people. Check yer firearms at the door, and place your personal agenda in a secure storage box for the duration please.

I have served on some club boards, and IMHO the need a president to set direction and hold board and committee members accountable for their commitments. Plus, a president running on a platform creates a mandate for what the membership wants.

"leaderless" clubs can work, but only where the board & committee members are all self motivated and there are no "direction" issues.

I agree 100%, and Roger I think you should reconsider that, FWIW I meant every word I said on the OC site about you and your team's positive contributions to the 928OC.

That is simple, the Board selects a Chairman or "Speaker" that communicates the Boards agreed upon agenda, but no single person should be a tie-breaker, each vote counts as the same.

This sounds like a no win situation all around. I do not know a thing about what is going on but I do know this fight is not doing the 928 any good.

I'd like you to reconsider but after being accused by the "president" and JFeather of pocketing profits from the OCIC (there weren't any, it cost Roger out of pocket" I'd step away from that place too. But, you've done a lot of good for the OC, I suppose when all of the megalomaniacs are not around, things will be a bit more enjoyable.

Sorry I did not explain that very well. I have had a lot of criticism about the fact that I am on the Board as a trustee and also a Vendor. I have tried very hard not to let that interfere in any way with the OC. I could never be President or VP (if anyone would have me 8>) ) as that is too much conflict of interest.
Question? Is it Ok to be a trustee and a vendor - value your opinions please.
