Lightbulb NEWBIE NEEDS HELP

Former Camaro owner just bought 1979 928, seems to be Muscle Car, well kinda.
Trying to get the dash lights to work. So far fuse is good removed dimmer and to my surprise both leads have power! Before I attempt to remove cluster should I be looking for a bad ground? Seems to me power is being feed back to dimmer.
PO had cluster redone a year ago for $280 but said he never used the car at night so he's not sure if they were working after the repair. I've searched the forums for two days and really haven't seen any problem like mine. Any tips or directions would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks!

A 270 cu inch V8 is way too small to be a muscle car. They had to be nearly 400 cu inch or bigger stuffed into a somewhat small body car.
The foil and plastic circuit boards on the back of the pods are all falling apart and no longer made. You need to see how it was "fixed".

I think I bought that thingy. It's not a prism but a homemade reflector with LED's. It replaces the old prisms and require some cutting away of the instrumentcluster housing to be able to fit it properly. I haven't mounted it yet but I could send you picture (still to be made) of the luster with the old prisms removed, just prior to cutting to fit the LED cluster with reflector.

I will make some pictures in the current state and when it's put together again. I do not have pictures of the original situation. The reason I started this repair was because the old lights and prisms did not give enough light. Hardly visible actually.

Default Instrument panel LED's

Hello 2HOTZ,

Here are the pictures of my instrumentpanel, with the LED light mounts. Hope this gives you anidea of what to expect. To run the cables with fittings throught the hole that was used for the prisms before, a piece of the plastic housing needs to be dremeled off.

Thanks Ad!
Great pics and descriptions. How do the wires connect, do you have to run a new power wire?

It's easy! Notice that the ends of the wire are attached to a bulb fitting! So it connects just like a normal bulb. The wires run through the large hole where the prism used to protrude into the black housing. That is why a piece of the black prism holder needs to be cut away to give enough space to put the white bulb fitting through. So in stead of the lights reflecting from the bulb in the back via the prism reflectors, the light will come directly from undeneath the instruments, helped by the build-in reflectors behind/undrneath the LED's. I'll try to make a picture with the LED's burning

You know why I didn't fix them to the car yet? Because I think it is perhaps easy to make something similar with a choice in LED colour. Just put different colours in a reflective fixture and wire them up with different switches. Could be fun! Or make a fairground out of it with automatic changing colours dependent on the rpm of the engine (don't know how but it sure sounds tempting!)

Were the rear mud flaps a factory option?
