Default Tired or less than soft door, window, hatch, etc. seals?

Got this stuff a while back for my 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo after having read about it on the Z forum I frequent.

It was posed as a not only a protectant but a rejuvinator for the rubber t-top seals. Got it, used it and in a word A M A Z I N G !

Brought a tube to OCIC to finish up on my S4 as well as show others there, let quite a few use on their 928's as well, with excellent results. While it wont fix cracked or torn seals for the door, window, hatch, etc. seals, it will rejuvinate them if not actual tears!

Wipe on with a rag, rub in, leave for a bit, wipe off.

It is called Shin-Etsu, get from Honda dealer or eBay. Honda part number is 08798-9013, $10 on ebay...

Small tube goes a LONG way, my tube is maybe 1/2 gone and has done all the seals on at least 6 cars!

Just thought I would pass it on.

One potential downside - it is likely that new paint will not adhere anywhere that the silicone grease has touched...

Got excited by this so looked it up on UK ebay where there was a single tube with BIN price around $50!

I suspect Honda dealers in UK must sell it for around that amount unless ad I saw was complete rip off. It looks like really good stuff so thanks for tip.

I wonder if this is different than other silicone greases I have used, such as Sil Glyde, sold at NAPA and elsewhere. Whenever I hear a hatch squeak, I coat the seal and it goes away.

Not familiar w that brand, can say this stuff actually absorbs into seals and plumps them up and noticeably more supple

I use the thicker viscosity stuff and it works great.

Maybe this ShinEtsu formulation and viscosity is better matched to the task!

Kenny is onto something here. He was kind enough to do one of my door seals at OCIC and it worked out great. Just purchased a tube through that ebay link above (post # 6) for $ 17.47 with shipping. T

Heard about this on the Audi forums some time ago. Thanks for the reminder and link. Just ordered a tube. Will report back with results soon...
