CL ad with more picts, but still no vin.
http://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/3208009237.html

Seems nice, but not amazingly nice. OTOH if it fully checked out, might suit someone well.

I was doing great until I read "I do not need the money so please refrain from insulting offers."

Well, as of this afternoon the car is still there in Lackawanna. Talked to "Sam" the seller and got only a little more than what is listed in CL and eBay. He's got all the import documents as well as dealership service records since new. Would not provide more/better pictures or any additional information.

IF the car is exactly as described then it seems a little better than good. Not sure what I'd do with the car I've got sitting in storage in Asheville, NC (also a 1985 Euro S)...maybe someone has a suggestion?

Living in Monterey, CA without my Shark is killing me a little inside every day. No hyperbole whatsoever.

Just convince the seller your offer isn't an insult, its an education.

How is a 2nd one going to cure your situation? I have been w/o mine for years because of unique circumstances, but what is stopping you from driving the one in asheville vs. the one in buffalo?

and he can say take a hike and that would be your lesson in "wanting".

just spoke with him - the ad needs clarification. The seller is not the original owner. Says he bought it from a family friend, just never registered it. The friend told him to just drive it and see if you like it. He's had it for a year, he says. Seller said that is why it's a one owner car. hmm. Could still be a good buy. I may drive up and look at it this weekend. We'll see.

This starts to look shadier and shadier all the time. I'm sure the car is there and I'm sure it's nice as they go. On the other hand, he claimed to me that he went "all the way to Heidelberg" to get it and not that it was a second hand "first owner" car.

Anyone get a VIN on this one yet?

I'm in Monterey and lack the time in the immediate future to recover my disabled Shark in Asheville. I'd have had it shipped out but it's non ambulatory at the moment owing to an inoperative fuel pump, an inoperative clutch (dead pedal), a suspect crank position sensor, and some doubts about a recent TB change. I need to go through it before I try to drive it anywhere.

I'm not going to go for the one in Buffalo as it's just not a sound financial decision. Moving out of the country in a little less than a year and it looks like I will be Sharkless for the rest of the time im in CA.

Looks like you may be creating a great barn find for someone in 20 years.

Not going to hijack this thread with all the reasons I will not do that...

Anyone know how to get a VIN from running a license plate? NY state APC 6850.

I'm really curious about the provenance of this vehicle...also about the antenna on the rear driver's side quarter glass. Incidentally, that car has a built in radar detector (older model Passport apparently).

Did the Euro come with those headlights? Mine has the H4s.

Also, to gauge the audience reaction--what does one think the market for this car as described would bear?

I'd probably go $12,000 or so considering the distance involved and the associated costs. But that's me.

I asked about the lights - the guy said they had the chrome rings, which means that was likely part of the federalization at the time. The seller doesn't know jack squat about p-cars in general or 928s in particular (note the comment about the "timing chain" in the ad), so this could be a grab for someone. He is a fast talker though, and a ppi would be important. I don't trust the guy at all after having spoken to him and reading tuefel's comments about his conversation with the seller.

Looks ok in cell phone picts, but seller is pegging my fishy meter, so I am missing a lot of what is appealing about it. An 85 Euro just isn't that "different" from a US 85, especially if the US 85 gets the usual tweaks.

Since it hasn't been mentioned there is NO WAY this car could be registered in California without a SERIOUS amount of cash applied.
