Seems a very high percentage of Ebay buyers are flakes from what I gather. Funding usually lags behind the computer keys being depressed.

Yes some never thought they would "win". Have buyers remorse, wife remorse, can not finance the buy, do some homework and realize it was no bargain. Since it COSTS NOTHING to bid many bids are worth NOTHING !!

Well, I have bought 3 sharks on ebay and have sold 1 and have had no issues what so ever. The trick is the feedback. If I am selling and see someone bidding with zero feedback, I just knock him off. Seldom will you have issues with someone with over 100 feedback at 100% positive. Ebay has succeeded on the backs of good honest people selling their wares and they are still out there.
I have no affilliation but I love ebay and the fact that I can sell all over the world with the same add.

Mecum sells you a bidders card PLUS you must post funds bank letter of credit etc. BEFORE you are allowed to bid. Raise your hand there and you OWN IT !!! car need not EVER start and run again and you own it !

Euro Trash just bought a 928 from a gentleman on Ebay with 7 yrs of 100% positive feedback until he did a runner after the sale.

The world is full of them, but, the first post of this thread by Brad gave the impression that it was bought at full price shortly after it was listed, unless it was a kid screwing around the individual most likely has the money and one of a million things could have gone wrong in the closing. The buyer may have wanted better pics or paper work or a dis-agreement on whatever.
I bought mine from an online ad and a phone call. Its a complicated transaction and logistics of transporting a car purchase a long distance is never easy.

I bought both of mine on ebay with no problems.
The ’82 from a dealer in Milwaukee. Drove out with a trailer and hauled it back.
The ’86.5 from a private party in PA. Drove a rental out and the 928 back. That was a lonnggg day but what a great trip. Too bad my co-pilot didn’t figure the stereo out until Rochester, MN.

Me too. I drove down to PA with a wad of cash in a rental. Got there and saw it sitting in a dark garage, kind of menacing. He tells me its a "euro", I said what is that? He said it has more power, I think there's nothing wrong with that.
They seemed real nice, after a little test drive, we decide to do the deal. He types out a bill of sale and signs it, I count out the money. Almost done, right ---- Nope. How to get it home. I have no insurance papers, reg and no plate. He is reluctant to let that come with me, which is understandable. I call the PA state police and ask what would happen if you stopped me in this new to me car w/o plates but this story. He says I would let you go, but you might get stopped by a real ***** and then you got trouble. It was getting late and I didn't like the sound of that. At the last minute the seller said he would me let take his stuff and I said I would fedex it back the next morning.
Once past the parking lot they call the NJ turnpike, I had a blast. The sound and power and feel of MY car was incredible. I was laughing my *** off everytime I hit the gas. Then turning on the heaqdlights in a 928 for the first time. Priceless experience.

I bought the cars for season two of Car Warriors. Drove all over the L A area looking at and buying cars. I was always carrying $10-15 in cash. Looking for unrestored but sound classic cars I often was in not nice neighborhoods and alone.
Only once did I really think I was about to be robbed turned out fine but for a bit I really wondered why the two dudes in the Escalade with 22 rims decided to park right next to me in a nearly empty parking lot at a storage unit when I went back the second day to buy and leave with the car.
I would leave my Passat where ever I bought a car and have a production assistant drive me back to my car. P A s are aspiring film makers for the most part and some got to see parts of L A they never knew existed
