Did I see in one of your pictures that your OFN is set-up whereby you have to use the plug when you add oil? If so I may have a solution for you, let me know.

For a temporary fix until you get a system you want installed, remove the Oil Filler Cap, find a cheap K&N type filter that has enough of the filter material to be cut out and wrapped over the filler neck opening(where the cap was) and secure the perimeter with a zip tie. Yeah, ghetto as heck, but will (should) eliminate the oil out the dipstick tube problem until you get a better breather system in place.
OH, if it then pukes oil all over your hood foam...I never made this post.. LOL

It's good to see that you have time available for posting on RL and share your expertise with the community, I for one have read lots about all of your past experiences on all levels here on RL.
I assume that when I started to work on this subject some years ago you where dealing with some health issues at the time.

Dave, good idea. I've started a lot of it but have not had the time to yank the drivers cam cover to mod it and mount a provent. Thanks for the idea, that is going to save me some degreasing time there.

Yes, the last 4-5 years have been, well, "interesting"...but each and every day I am learning to adapt and manage better and better.

If you find using the plug or simply paying attention when you pour oil in the filler neck becomes an issue for you, there are other ways to do it. If you notice the fittings sticks up so it is easy to pour in oil without it going into the fitting. Also in reality it is not a big deal if any oil goes in there, it will simply drain back through the Provent and back into the oil pan...just slower than the direct route.
You can do as Louie did (see pics/link below), or go a step further and use a nice AN swivel fitting mounted in an aluminum oil cap. But IMHO that adds more agravation and complexity to the process. It also adds additional stress issues to the hose and fittings each time you remove the filler cap. I am sure there are others ways to do this also, just giving you some alternative suggestions.
Regardless of your choice, you do not need to remove the oil filler neck to change this if desired, look closely at the "seam" just rearward of the filler cap area and you will see the filler neck is 2 sections glued together with an RTF type sealant along with 2 recessed release/retainer tabs on each side of the neck near that seam. It is easy to remove that part and install a new section without the drilled vent port for the 1" fitting without removing the entire filler neck. This is also a common oil leak location and any used one should be resealed anyway.
Whatever you decide try to at least have a 1" (3/4" minimum as per Louie, see article in link below) vent from the crankcase via the oil filler neck... as Louie and I both discovered years ago your crankcase venting may be less than optimal without that. FWIW, this suggestion is only for a simple system like my SV, I can't speak to this concerning Herman's impressive well thought out and designed system. I have no experience with it since he was gone above and beyond my simple SV system.
I also note in your pics on your other thread you have one of the older SV systems.. we should talk about some easy simple changes, especially if you plan on lots of high rpm sustained driving. Makes for an even simpler system with better crankcase venting, less hoses/parts and helps to keep the ports on the cam covers from literally pumping oil (not just vapors) directly into the Provent and degrading it's separation capacity as well as the oil drain back capacity. These changes put that oil directly back into the crankcase when it occurs and lets the Provent deal with mostly oil vapors only, as it is designed to do. My apologies for not informing you of these changes we made to the system a few years ago, but it looks like the timing is perfect for you now. I have a revised install manual I can send you that illustrates these simple changes. The one simple part and one hose needed is readily available worldwide, I can send you the part numbers/specs or ship you the items from here depending on how fast you want them.

Before I settled on using the GTS OFN or using a metal 1987 unit with a modified PS vent out port (of 10.5mm)
I experimented with a pre-GTS model (see the attached pictures) that would give me a PS out port with a 15.5mm opening, like others I aimed at having the largest port size available to vent in to the Provent.
I have now decided to stay with the GTS model as it’s easier to just drill out the existing 6mm vent hole (even while it’s installed on the car) and make it 11mm so far I have found that this gives me 0 pressure up to 2500RPM (I just haven’t done any test beyond that at this time).
My goals where to assist other owners to have a better understanding of why they may have any potential oil ingestion problems or they may encounter in the future, come up with a simple in-expensive solution (if there is such a thing) with the least invasive installation requirements possible (no cam cover or intake removal required for the GTS model since they have the front elbow on the DS cam cover already).
With well over 3000miles since the installation on the car the system oil consumption has dropped of to an expectable range as per factory specs. Do I believe that there may be room for more improvements, yes I do! They may take more time and money to adapt or develop but for right now I know I’m no longer “gunking” up the inside of the motor.

Dave, thanks for your lengthy post. I do not see any problems using the plug to fill oil, but I was curious as to what Herman came up with. As to the updated SV: yes I would like to have the installation guide. Let me review what the changes are from the setup that I have and go from there. In the meanwhile, I will send you some pics of the fresh air vent setup I made with the hose you sent me.
