Are the fittings in the AC system a certain type..so that you could source raw ends to make custom hoses on your own?
I used my existing ends and welded AN fittings..because I had them, but just wondered if the OEM fittings, were a certain type.

Some of them are, others are not. For the ones that are not, they can usually be replaced with standard fittings and longer hose. For example, the fittings connecting directly to the compressor are long and custom, but the low-side fitting that connects close to the low-side charge port is just a 90 degree o-ring fitting. Depending on the model year, it could either be a #12 barb to #12 female o-ring fitting or a #10 barb to #12 female o-ring reducer fitting. The high side fittings between the compressor and condenser are #8. The hose going from the drier to the hard line I believe is a #6 on both ends. If you do replace the custom fittings with standard and longer hose, you need to make sure that the hoses are kept away from the A/C belt.
These are the types of fittings I am talking about: http://www.starkmfg.com/EngineeringR...on.aspx?id=169
