Default Dimensions needed

I was hoping someone with a Euro S4 and above might have the dimensions for the mounting of the european side repeater, as highlighted in the picture.

My GT project is going to the paint shop next month and I am adding the side repeaters to the car and I want to make sure the shop cuts in the correct place....

Cheers!

The Euro fender actually has some sculpting done around the mounting holes, so the lamp sits in a slight recess formed into the fender metal. Someone with an original unmolested/un-federalised Euro front fender might chime in with a picture of the recess with dimensions, and the exact location.

Thanks, I looked at some early euro fenders online and I could see the recess, at this point I am debating if I should have the shop make them flush or make it look stock which seems to have the lens protrude quite a bit from the fender surface.

Cheers!

The fender is aluminum, albeit a bit tougher than Coors can aluminum. It -may- be softe enough to tolerate a fabricated set of dies to make the recesses for you. One-time use out of hardwood, pass-around set for others out of at least aluminum block, steel would be better. It's really tough getting that recess right with hammer and dolly, while still keeping the rest of that panel area true.

There are some other cars that have similar-styled side lamps. Might be worth a few parking-lot surveys to find a flat-fit alternative on something later and German.

Agree, BMW 5-series 2001 through 2003 has a similar shaped turn repeater lens, although I think it is slightly smaller. Will have a few samples with me to the shop and let them give me some options.

Thanks again!

Quick and dirty, can't find my steel ruler, also forgot the vertical...use this to let me know which measurements you need.

Awesome!

Thank you so much, that helps a lot. If you have some time I would really appreciate the vertical dimension from between the plastic side skirt up to the repeater so I know how "high" the marker sits. But again, thank you for taking the measurement!

Cheers!

No, the U.S. side marker lights (front & rear) are being deleted. I already have the ROW GTS rear quarter panels with no marker light so only need to patch/weld the front one as well.

Cheers!

I see. What about the fog light in the rear bumper?

I think I'd just leave them off altogether like Tony did on his Just Beachy GTS... I think Sterling did that as well. I like that clean look!

James,

I agree leaving them off gives the car a cleaner look, so I am removing the USA side markers, but adding the euro side turn signal for 3 reasons. I am taking the car back to the "original" european look which I think looks better overall. Secondly, they are required by law in many european countries, and I may at some point have to relocate there for work/family. Lastly I think it is a safety improvement as people next to you on the road can see you are about to turn or change lanes...providing of course one remembers to use the darn turn signal in the first place

Cheers!
Carl

The S4 and up had fog lights integrated in the rear tail light cluster (unlike the separate lower mounted one on S3's), and mine will be modified to have that as well. If you look at the wiring diagram for the ROW cars you'll see a dual filament bulb in the tail light cluster where the US version only has a single filament bulb. On euro cars only two of the 3 tail light bulbs are used for tail lights. The 3rd, most inner light is a dedicated brake/stop light as opposed to the US version that uses a dual filament bulb in that location.

Cheers!
