One Piece Dash Defroster Vent Piece on 87?
This has been a mystery to me as I tried to order this piece through Tom at 928International, but he told me the 87 should have 2 vents or have it built into the dash as 2 built in slots. Mine calls for a one piece defroster vent which is suppose to be in the later model years according to Tom. What gives? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really need this piece as it is the only thing missing in my cars interior. Here is a pic. If you have one and want to part with it, let me know, I need it and dont care what color it is...

Also, my glove box does not seem to fit right as you can tell if you look to the right of the pic. Could this be a later model dash that is suppose to have an air bag in place of where the glove box is and that is why it does not fit right?

Looking at the PET for your year and the newer...it appears the dash (one vent) are from 92-up models.
Your MY should have 2 vents. The dash on the passenger side looks a bit......uneven. Maybe the dash cover is hiding the air bag cover?

It appears to be a 90+ dash. I suspect the original dash has been replaced.
The part you need is 928 552 309 51. They came in various colors.
Sometimes they can be hard to find. Your local Porsche dealer can do a nation wide search for it.
Its held in by eight screws from the underside. Makes for an interesting install without removing the dash. I don't think it can be done in situ.

In many parts of the world Porsche installed the air bag on the steering wheel ONLY. So your dash has most likely been replaced with a later ROW dash. The glove box door has some adjustment capability, but as others have stated the dash may not be installed correctly. Once you get the missing grill you will have to remove the dash to install the grill; that will be the time to adjust everything.
Roger can get the grill and/or do a nationwide search.

Take the glove box liner out and while its out try to adjust the glove box lid. Most often this will work since the liner is susceptible to heat and melts easily.
Once you get it adjusted, reinstall the liner.
You may have to replace or adjust/cut the liner, remove the rubber bumpers etc.
