Default Stuck Throttle - 1987 S4 - Manual - Idles @ 3.5k - Fixed.

The cable was jammed - we freed it and it now idles much lower.

I looked at the throttle spring using a mirror and I believe that the throttle is stuck. No amount of pulling on the accelerator cable is able to move the throttle.

I am going to spray some PB blaster and see if that helps. If not I am going to have to pull the intake.

Unless there is someone that has a better idea.

Can you see where it is stuck? Is it under the intake or is it in the passenger compartment? If you disconnect the accelerator can you get a bit of slack and does that move?
So basically trying to see where the cable is stuck, from the interior to under the intake or intake to the throttle body. Also if you take it off the throttle does your idle go down?

did you install new fuel lines including the line between the rear damper and fuel pressure regulator? if so then its quite possible that the hose is jamming on the cable , if so you need to fix it so the cable wont cut through the new hose

My success was short lived - cable jammed again - now @ 2500 rpm. Need to remove the MAF to get a better view, but the sucker is stuck in there.

Any suggestions for removing the MAF?

If you take the fuel rail cover off on the right-side (passenger side in LHD), and the MAF lower band clamp is in the right place, you can undo it using a 7mm socket on a U-joint and about a 9 inch 1/4" drive extension.

The throttle plate is closed by 2 springs.......if you disconnect the cable and its still open then Id take the intake off and figure out whats hanging it up...........that is one dangerous problem.

taking the MAF off you'll see and feel where the throttle body plate is and if you can move it.......I wouldnt force it.
