Mike! You've done a spectacular job putting this thing together. To raise a few grand for Andres family is a great thing. I nominate you for lifetime member... Oh wait... Well I just really appreciate your efforts and the selfless purchases of everyone. And while I didn't win anything, I did donate early on to the family. I never was able to locate my x-pipe or RMB. I must have given them away or sold them previously, otherwise I would have donated them. Thanks again!

Wow, two consecutive lifetime sentences, er, memberships. I guess there's no option of time off for good behavior?

No problem Andrew, it went better than I even imagined it would. I still have a few loose ends to clean up before I close the books and then I'll post the final information.

This is a great group and I only did the logistics, as you mentioned there were unbelievable items listed and they were purchased for some extremely generous amounts. And since the range of items went down to the smaller items like some of the ones I listed there was a great range of participation. Every little bit helps and there were contributions from all over the world by 928ers everywhere.

This is wierd! Anyone know what this woman might be up to? This is a direct restatement of my original post where I myself made this donation, but without being in quotes. I doubt if she actually has such an exact duplicate of my donation, and certainly not enough to honor the donation as stated.

I PM'd but have no response from her yet.

It's just some sort of automated spam-bot post, I see 2-3 of these sorts of posts a week, lately. They always have a trio of broken picture icons at the end. Not sure if they need to be reported to IB to have them cleaned or whether they're removed automatically, but they don't seem to last long in threads where they pop up.

I thought that looked familiar.

I figured I'd just ignore it and it would go away.... And it did.

I'll mail the key ring to Kurt A., the Gap Fillers to Glen McC., and the Latch liner to Chas. P., all later this morning.

Do you have any more buyers for me, Mike?

I have a DEVEK PERFORMANCE windshield banner in either silver or grey (can't remember) that I will contribute. $20 starting bid + free shipping

Also a pair of very lightly used cross-drilled (but not slotted) front rotors that will fit 78/79 stock calipers and hubs. $10 starting bid + $20 shipping or free pick up.

Sorry, no pics until mid-October

Buyer will have to wait approx 6 weeks for delivery, items are in NorCal and I won't be back there until then.

Erik,

I'm sorry, this auction ended on 8/31/2012. I'm sorry for the confusion.

If anyone would like to continue to contribute may I suggest that you list whatever you choose to put out there on eBay and then when you get payment, send it directly on to the Hedrick family paypal account.

Here's a link

Copy that, my mistake.

If anyone wants the rotors or banner, PM me and we'll contribute the funds.

Hi Jerry,

Can you send me a PM with the ones I haven't notified you of? I have all of the items listed in the auction marked with a date for the 'handshake' which is the term I used for the PM that I sent to the lister after the bidder's money came through Paypal. I cc:ed the bidder on these as a 'handshake' to close the transaction.

I thought everyone had been notified, but things got a bit messy there for a little while with bid closings and relistings so I probably messed something up.

I have your name next to 10 donated items, all paid for and (I thought) all 10 were passed along to you for shipping. The combined total that your donations brought in before shipping was $680- THANK YOU!!!

***********
If anyone has made payment and hasn't heard from me or the lister of the item you bid on, please let me know here or in a PM. I want this whole thing to be completely transparent to the 928 community that made it possible.

I think the last payment just cleared my bank (yes, every bidder settled up within 7 days of the close of auction!!!) and I'm going to go back through one more time and match up Paypal transaction IDs with the list in the first post and double check my totals. I will cover the Paypal fees that were incurred on some transactions before I requested that they be labeled 'gift' so that the total of the bids matches what we end up sending to the family. I'll also be sending a link to this thread so they can see all of the people who listed, bid and contributed to Andre's family.

The next post will probably be the one that closes the books in the next few days. Thanks again to everyone who made this possible.

Mods: If you could just keep this as a sticky until the final amount is transferred to the family, I'd appreciate it. I'll let everyone know when the books are finally closed and it's passed along. The balance in the account right now is about $3651.xx!

Hello everyone.

This is my last post in this thread. Mods, please unstick this. All of the tallies are in and the final amount was $3700.
I transferred the money to the Paypal Account set up for Andre's family about 10 minutes ago.

Here's the e-mail I sent afterward:

**************************************
Hello Val,

My name is Mike Frye and I wanted to express my deepest sympathies for the loss of Andre. He was a friend of mine and of everyone on the 928 forum on Rennlist.

I wanted to let you know that throughout August and early September dozens of people from all over the world came together to show their support for your family. We held an auction where everyday people and some of our sponsors donated extremely valuable items as well as shipping fees in order to raise money as a token of our support. The items donated ranged from small items like a 928 dash insert that I listed to a very rare and valuable edition of a 928 book, to an extremely rare and valuable set of Euro valves.

There were some heated bidding wars where people bid far and away above the typical value of these items, all in the name of coming together for this cause.

Although we wish the amount could be more and we know that it's just a symbolic gesture, we hope you will understand that it also means that we meant it when we said Andre was a part of our family and you and your family are still part of ours by extension.

Here's a link to the auction thread that ran. You can see that it was very well supported and shows everyone's willingness to contribute.

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=45339

Again, deepest condolences from my family, and our Rennlist family to yours.

Mike Frye- on behalf of the men and women of the Rennlist 928 Forum...
