Overwhelming !!!
Dear Mike and all you wonderful Rennlist folks,
I just got the message from the paypal account that was set up for my family and me, showing the incredibly generous amount that you raised from your online auction. It is simply overwhelming, the number of people who donated, the bidding wars in which people over-bid the value of the items, and the general spirit of "pay it forward" that is shown in this wonderful gesture.
Andre struggled all his life to feel accepted and loved, but I know that among his car-enthusiast friends, he was more "whole" than in many other contexts. I know that he must be looking down from Heaven with gratitude in his heart for all your kindness to us.
The kids and I are doing our best to move forward: the kids are now all in school, and beginning to find their way, after years of being homeschooled. I'm working on the process of "clean-up" of paperwork, insurance, legal details, social security, and getting my own head together about where I will land in the career world. There are good days and not-so-good days, but I feel very supported and cared-for. Your generosity and kindness certainly contribute to that feeling.
There will come a time soon when I will need to sell-off Andre's 1981 Porsche 928, as well as his large collection of 928 and BMW car parts and tools. I hope that I can tap into your collective expertise as to their value and the best way to do that. But for now, just know that I am overwhelmingly grateful for all you have done, and for the spirit of camaraderie and true friendship that you have shown in this project.
Thank you from my heart,
Val
