What's the market like for selling an 88 S4 5-speed?
Well, I have another opportunity I want to move on and I am going to sell my 88 S4 5-speed.
It is Guards Red with black and tan (champagne I guess) interior and 145k miles. It has rear AC, 928 Motorsports short shift kit, and 18" turbo twist wheels (295 tires on back). Non-LSD I believe.
Over the next week I will be replacing the steering rack and hose, and the gas tank (which has a small leak) and also be changing out all the o-rings and recharging the AC system as it is a bit weak.
Its been about 5 years or so since the TB was last done.
It does have a crack in the windshield.
I would say interior is about a 7.5-8 out of 10 and the same for the exterior.
Pics will be up toward the end of the weekend after a full detail.
I am going to be asking around $13,000 - is this in line with what the market is seeing at the moment?
Thanks

I would say if you are replacing the windshield and do the deferred maintenance you should be able to get that price. 5 speed cars typically are desired.

the market is soft......I'd say $13k is a bit on the high end, WITH a fresh TB.......windshield is big money too....since its the rare windshield with antenna in it....

I live in Miami and Auto's here are the way to go due to traffic, but back on topic...the market here is ok for 928 S4, I have one and have had 3 people in the last month offer to buy mine for more than I paid...but mine is not the common Rennlister 928 : ) it is a bit flashy, 19" rims, lowered, carbon fabric fiber interior, MOMO steering wheel, Recaro seats...it looks like a racer and not stock at all...I know I know blasphemy...but hey I LOVE IT and I get compliments almost daily...
The only problem with the comments are is that half of the people say "nice Ferrari" HAHAHA LOL...I just go with it...

Your car sounds like it's not to my taste, but if you love it who cares what others think?

Post some pics in a new or in your original thread as it would be interesting to see what you’ve done.

I don't think the market has ever been good for 928's. I think the only ones that are worth big money are the garage queen GTS's, or the garage queen 77-79's with something unique like original pascha interior in good condition.
I bought my 87 S4 5 speed for about $10000, it had limited records, 4 owners, mediocre mechanically, but with a mint interior that needed nothing other than some upgrades and softening of the leather and vinyl.

Well, Excellence market reports show 2010 was the bottom and a slight recovery in 2011. Your price sounds plausible for a 5-speed. Be a bit flexible and it's even better. I paid slightly more for an automatic 88 in 2010, which is like 9/10 exterior and 9/10 interior. Plus all work was done, no DM.

I am a newcomer here and don't know a lot, but IMHO Excellence is not right about 928 values. As someone who has devoted far to much time and energy in the last year to shopping for a 928, I agree that 13k is in the neighborhood if you have all the maintenance done and replace the windshield. As a shopper, needing to replace that $$ windshield right off the bat would make the car a non-starter. Also, if your AC works, don't be shy about advertising that. I have test driven about a half-dozen cars during my search and not a single one had working AC.

I picked up a brand new (not rebuilt) Denso compressor w/1 year warranty and drier for about $350 and fixed the relay in the head unit. I will pull the dash and replace some dampers in the future. Parts alone (without the R134) can run $500-700.
Knowing that, the value of working AC to a sale is $1000 more at retail.
With the year of warm weather here in the northeast, that is critical to me.

The infamous "polished" 928 from Las Vegas. I swear the thing just won't die and go away. As I recall he was trying to sell it. Maybe someone will steal it and dismantle it for parts.
