Rich Andrade in Mesa Arizona also does the MAF rebuild. I think he will test yours for you for no charge. He is RICH9928p on this forum.

Re dash lights, take the wires off the dimmer and join together, if still no lights maybe the bulbs (3) have failed.

Looks like a new car, awesome, well done, oh and white is good.

Congrats to such happy reunion. It must be a real privilege to be driving your father's car thinking about him.

Whitesands: Lol I'm no electrician.. but I'll give it a go.. I'm assuming this will need a day of sorts with taking the whole dashboard out.. weee!

No need to pull the whole dash, just the pod. The first time it will take a couple of hours, but with practice, it goes a lot faster.

Dwayne's Garage has a very nice writeup on it:

http://dwaynesgarage.norcal928.org/P...Repair%20I.htm

For some reason, part of it is out of sequence. Read through it a couple of times and you will see what I mean.

The dash dimmer is the little wheel on the left side. It's very easy for the wires going to it to pop off and your dash lights go out. If you have no dash lights at all, this would be the first thing I'd check.

yaz,

When I saw your Email. Your name sounds familiar . I'm just assuming . I might know some of your brothers. I used to study at LCB & some of your brothers also studied there?. Correct me if I'm wrong.

With regards to MAF- Roger 928Rus also sells them. Bought the MAF thinking its the problem which in fact the Fuel regulator is the problem. The mechanic wrongly predict.

Just a lil update:

It turns out the dial under the dashboard to lighten up the pod works! I'm such a newb! Haha

Car running nicely, however tested the brakes and suspension but not feeling it.. Brakes are ok as I have replaced the rotors and pads. Suspension is the problem, hence ordered a set of Bilsteins from Roger, amongst other things such as new fuel lines and replacements of the rear tank floater as I can smell petrol in the cabin.

Look forward to install these parts in coming weeks and give the verdict on the new absorbers.

Z, yes I have had siblings going through LCB throughout the years. Youngest sister just enrolled for this year actually! I've sorted to get a second hand MAF and 3 other oil regulators and man they're hard to find here! I've also sent my original MAF to the UK for a thorough check and repair. Want the original back. Maybe I can sell the spare MAF to anyone who needs it hehe.

If you're in town and free, let's catch up for a cup a tea/coffee.

Great choice on the shocks as they also come with new lower perches and adjuster collars.

NOTE fuel smell will usually come from a broken Y connector under the RF fender,

also a good time to remove the washer tank and and flush it ,
also remove the metal collars in the washer tank and fill tube,
install these without any collars,
this will remove potential rust issues

Mrmerlin: Thanks for the note. I hope the shocks are good cos I was testing the bottom end of the engine last weekend and the current suspension was just awful! Luckily the new Bilsteins are in.

We did a thorough check on the fuel smell which included the y-connector and so forth. Will be doing the replacements this next few days.

Fingers crossed it'll be a good as new.

On a side note, I'm looking for a sleeper exhaust system, where at low speeds it sounds normal but when pushed, it roars.. It seems that the exhaust system is very limited for the 928. Unless u replace the muffler with an RMB.

If you've got the smaller GT-style resonators (standard from 1989 onwards - only 87'88 S4 and later auto GTS has the big ones IIRC), then I'm a fan of keeping the stock back-box and resonators, and putting an X-pipe on.

That makes it plenty meaty under throttle but not too bad around town, plus adds around 15-20 rwhp.

87's have the larger resonators aft of the cats, so early S4's benefit from a smaller rear muffler to replace the devastatingly effective stock S4 rear muffler, as well as the X-pipe.

For reference, the smaller resonators are 2dB louder than the big resonators under our standard local noise tests (4k rpms 5m away 45 degree angle from the car).

I see. BTW where do you send the car for repairs?
Sure- I'll be in Brunei around march next year. I did went back few mths back(May-June)- Our GTS started OK after 10 months hibernating.(Use it for 2 months and Right now- it currently hibernating again. Haha.

I still have my MAF in the store room. LOL. ( I keep it nicely as I know it has value). I even keep the original tensioner etc. My car uses the Porken auto tensioner for timing belt.
