My 3 year old fuel pump crapped out on me yesterday and after installing the new one with filter. Whollyhell this car is fast. Any tuning I did before needs totally redoing.

Sounds like we are going to have some fun Jeff.

I have the complication of the Devek headers..the tune that came with the kit...its "off".

Victor is trying to see if he can get the OK to cover the kit, and bring a few to SharktoberFest'12 from Mark.

Thing is..its not WOT crazy stupid around town...but once you get over 4500, it gets very VERY interesting pretty quick.

With the 2.54 gears...I imagine if I can get the "go" signal with someone on the highway at about 60mph, I will dissapear from view very fast using the last solid slice of 2nd gear.

Did you install a later trans? You should be running the 2.20.

Yes, I scored a half-off (928intl Xmas sale) A28.16 with LSD that replaced my leaky-as-a-bitch 2.2LSD last December.

Did all of the WYAIT jobs..was about $5k total.

Sean,

Am I reading this interesting thread correctly in that the fuel pump is somehow connected with your problem or is that just purely coincidental?

I have a et of 4 hole design 2 Bosch injectors that I am thinking of installing given the ST2 capability. This makes we realise I need to do a bit more homework on the injector characteristics before installing and St'ing.

Either way hope you have the base problem resolved.

Regards

Fred

My initial settings were wrong for the injectors I have in there so that was fixed via ST2.

Afterwards I had some inconsistencies that I couldn't seem to pin down. The pump took a dump the other day and with the new on in the car, those seem to have gone away. Big stutter at idle, loss of power at odd times, etc.

I was out in it this morning getting shop supplies and ammo and got on it pretty good. It screams. I'm running pretty rich right now so tuning is on the agenda for Friday morning. I'm going to grab Roger and have him drive so I can tinker with the ST2. Mike V and I have not had a chance to get together for any real tuning yet so no actual stuff has been done.

Got a TB/WP job on Saturday so if you are free on Sunday that would be great, it's not like either one of us have a lot of time.

What does "...solid slice of second gear." supposed to mean?

I have some high RPM massive "go" left before falling into the lower end of 3rd.

At 65, it'll still go way down, but just upshift to 3rd right away..most wasted distance in shifting than accelerating.

Sean,

Amazing how often these cars seem to be able to find two things to go wrong simultaneously defying the law of probability!

I now have some more reading to do on fuel injectors.

For fun go dumpster diving for some old Hoosier R6's with Kilbort and you can make some use of second gear, or better yet get a drag radial (not nitto's, they are worthless) and see how big a smile first gear can produce.
