Default My 1991 GT with Factory GTS Flares!

This is my new 1991 Gt that I recently bought. Word has it, this was factory built for the 1992 New York car show with GTS flared fenders.

Welcome. Oct 2010 join, and two posts since?

Nice GT. Other than 'word has it' do you have any proof this wasn't done outside the factory?

Nice looking car... Flared rear fenders were a factory option on 928's many years IIRC. Though you never seem to see them. Kind of like pop up headlights on 911's...factory option but rare because it was VERY expensive!

I am doing this for my Dad. He does not get along with computers too well, haha. He has been a 928 guy for a long time. We thought it would be important to share this rare car with you all.
I will get a pic of the authenticity paperwork up soon.

I think the rear fenders are a #415 option code.

Very nice Steve. With less than 60K miles on it, great rare find.

RENTED!! Option 415 relates to wheel spacers/wider rear track - not bodywork or GTS arches. Sorry!

Nice GT though

Wonder if "Wide Body" on the certificate refers to the flares, doesn't have a code beside it. It wouldn't make sense for wheel spacers to be referred to as a wide body. I think all the GT's have factory spacers don't they?

Oh sorry, I was being an options code geek. Yeah "wide body" sounds like it.

RE-OWNED!!

That looks official enough. Thanks.

Two years ago a LHD '91/89?? GT was forsale here in the UK on Ebay. It essentially had a whole GTS rear end (not just wide body) and was said to have been owned by racing driver Gerhard Berger. It had no history and while I was trying to do some checking up in Germany it sold.

The OP/owner in this thread also hoping to find out more.

Dosen't get any better--a GT engine with a wide ***. How did you hear about the NY car show? A 20-year old picture of it there would be nirvana.
