Hi, noticed that this is an old thread but I would need some help on my VIN.
I recently purchased a 2003 Porsche Turbo which was marketed as having the X50 option. I did not know how to tell the difference before making the decision (My mechanic did check the car before and the car does have a K24 turbo and a different intercooler than a base Turbo).
However, after surfing on the net for a few days I noticed that if my car is indeed a X50, there should be a "X50" option showing on the sticker underneath the bonnet (which it doesn't show). I am wondering if I can ask for your help in checking the VIN for me?
It is WP0ZZZ99Z3S680721, and thanks a lot for your help in advance!
With warmest regards,
Uly

I have tried today a clean instalation on a virtual XP 32bits (vmware), and it keeps giving me the error. I'm not able to use the VIN filter which was really the best feature for me...

Current PET is version 7.3 update 349/85.
You will need to search for the latest "bootleg" and download again if your version does not come close.

I believe the PET VIN decoder is dead, for us mortals. However the shiny new 928 Owners Club website has a VIN-decoder.
928 OC website: http://928oc.org -- note the handy "Join" link-- cheap, and goes to a good cause!!
Log in, then click "Resources", then "VIN Decoder"

Yes, the new 928OC site is fantastic, the team there has done a ton of work on the update, and it shows.
