My low mileage '80 has a couple of black zip-ties on the engine that need replacing with original 'natural' colored nylon units and I will have to cut some original ones here and there during repairs so I finally got around to searching for the part numbers...
It appears that the factory round-ish head zip-ties are TY-RAP, made by ABB (Thomas & Betts).
Embarrassingly, I've never heard of them. Come to find, many ROW folks say ty-rap instead of zip-tie.

I wonder whether they started white and became 'natural' with age, or if they were the natural colored high temp variant?

I thought about that. The hi-temp ones have a green-ish tint, originally?
The regular naturals* have a 185F rating which is marginal for the injector rail wiring on L-Jet, for example.
The early cars are littered with these ty-raps so I would imagine they are not the more expensive high temp versions.

It's the color it came as(?)
I guess the concours judges will have to accept black as the only correct, PET-validated part.
