Yup, against better judgement, mistakes were made, but, what done is done. Now, if you just replace the just the pins, and not the pistons, would you recommend to also swap in new piston pin bushings in the connecting rods?

If the pin bushings were fine with the old pins, they should be fine with a replacement pin.

You are going to find that the piston pins are some of the closest tolerance pieces in the engine and they wear very little, if any. About the only thing that I've seen "kill" the pins is when "bead blasting" debris gets left in the intake manifold and gets sucked into the engine. The wrist pins and bushings, when this happens, get amazingly worn. You can break a fingernail on the "ridge" left on the piston pins.
If the pin bushings were fine with the old pins, they should be fine with a replacement pin.

I have a set of 8 pistons from an 88 engine, I can sell the complete set for $146, These have the extra oil drain holes drilled on the sides of the piston.
They are tolerance 1.

used internal 928 engine parts are useless in value, at least it seems like that. As I recall Mark was planning to trow a bunch of crank shafts away due to not being able to sell them? Complete S4 engines are not going for much these days.
I just looked at them today after work and some surface corrosion has started on the ends of the pins. Few very tiny black spots, you can't feel anything with your nail, no orange spots or holes though. I had them cleaned up when I took them out of the engine and sprayed down with WD40, should have used engine oil for storing. I think using a very fine scotch brite should clean them up. Will the same process as crank polishing work? I did not know they looked like that last night I made the post.

So I was able to get ahold of a set up pins / pistons / and rods. Pistons have dents all over them, so they are garbage, but they're TG-1 anyway so no loss to me. Rods look perfect, so maybe thats a bonus here. Pins are something I wanted to toss out for an opinion...
When I measured them, they measure somewhere between .9448" and .9447" or within the range of WSM acceptable (.9449" - .9447"). They feel very smooth, I can catch a nail on one area of one pin...it pretty subtle though. I'm wondering about the scoring marks visible on each pin. Mine looked much better, but everything in my engine looks better since it was never used. I'm wondering if these pins pictured are usable of if the pistons / pins are both junk, and I should look at other options. Is the scoring on the piston normal (pic #3 below) for some cars, or was this just a trashed engine?
