Denver to Witchita pre OC meet
For those who are traverlling to Witchita through Denver was curious as to timing.
Im scheduled to be in Dever on Wed afternoon/evening then travel to wichita Thurs morning.
If we could co-ordinate a meet then caravan to Kansas we can get the party started early
Anyone interested?

Hi Malcolm. That's a great idea. I have been planning to get out of here, Grand Junction, on Wednesday afternoon myself and go part of the way so that Thursday will not be such a long haul. I will be coming in my truck and pulling my trailer with my GTS4 and some of my project materials, so I may not fit very well in a caravan, but perhaps I can sort of bring up the rear.
Making Denver my wednesday overnight stop might be just about right. Its about 250 miles from here and that will make the last leg to KS not so long. We could party in Denver Wednesday as you suggest and then set up and party fairly early in Kansas thurday afternoon.
There is another thread somewhere about a caravan from Denver; and Erik and Fred mentioned something about it this thrusday evening in Denver when I was there for the Porsche Gathering that Erik set up for the RMR PCA. Maybe that thread is in the email forum for the Rocky Mountain Sharks.
I'll try to go fishing there and see what I can turn up for you/us in response to this Pre-Party Party idea.

thx Jerry...........didnt realise there is another thread so perhaps we can have them combined.
I was thinking folks headed to Witchita from the left side either North, South or West could meet up Wed night in Denver and head out Thurs.
Not sure how many folks are headed from Western Canada but for me its a straight shot south to Denver albeit a 2 day trip

Actually, Malcolm, I don't think there is another thread here on R'list. I think what I was remembering was some discussion about this caravan idea on the email forum for the Rocky Mountain 928 guys. I have posted something in (cast my line into) that forum and have asked that they post their responses to your pre-party party suggestion and the caravan in this thread if able. We will see what we catch. Maybe it will just be you and me??? Although I have the impression that there will be more than a dozen 928 going from the Denver area to OCIC, and I am pretty sure they plan to caravan, or most of them.

Well, it is getting very close to departure time for OCIC-12, and we still haven't heard any more about the Denver to Witchita 928 Caravan. I think Stan had something to say about it when it came up and I know Erik is up to speed on it. Maybe this request will generate some more oinformation about it for us.
Malcolm, have you determined yet where you will be staying in the Denver area? Send me a PM and maybe we will still be able to get together. We can also let ThomO know and at least there will be three of us for the Pre-Party Party.

I know the fires are bad so my route will alter accordingly that basicaly whats in my mind with alternate to go further East up North then straight South but want to take somewaht of a scencic route.
Thurs is the final push from Denver to Wichita then Ill be looking for a car wash and a cold cold drink

I'm driving from Colorado Springs to Wichita on Thursday. Denver would be out of my way, but I could meet the group in Limon (about 1.5 hours East from Denver on I-70).
Anyone else coming in from or through COS?

Its one of the last exits past Denver there is a Flying J there there as well as a hotel,
Meet time 8AM ,
A few Sharks from Denver will be meeting here on
Thursday 8 am.

Looks like there are two hotels at or very near that location. One of them is the Ambassador Hotel and Suites. Their rates for that wednesday nite are about $79 for a King, but non refundable, or about $101 refundable, based on my calling their reservation department in Manilla. The Ambassador apparently has a restaurant "on site" but no bar for the party.
The other one is, I think, the Comfort Inn. I don't remember what I found out about it, but of the choices mentioned so far, I had favored the Best Western on Quebec that you mentioned first. I haven't made a reservation yet, so let me know what you decide.
I suppose we could use the Ambassador and simply make it a tailgate party. I'll be bringing my new cooler and I can fill it with some party drinks. Maybe we can even find some muffins and make it a late niter.
Now that I think about it that is probably the better idea and a lot cheaper than paying bar prices.
