Karl,
Wow - Coral Red - what a perfect color for the Islands of Hawaii!! Beautiful car indeed. Congrats on a wonderful find/purchase.

Yes - the cell phone arm rest was an OE option. It was there on the '94 I bought in '06, but I wanted the extended depth arm rest from Paul Champagne - yes, I really like to be able to store something other than a sheet of paper in there!!) So Roger T. now has that armrest for one of his many cars (or just in his stash).

Planning to hop over and visit the Missouri one day during the time we'll be in Kauai this September. With any luck, we might be able to have lunch/smoothie/dinner or something, as I'd love to see the car.

Cheers,

Neat color. I really like it. I'm not crazy about the color matched wheels but they aren't too bad. Congratulations on this purchase. Are there good driving roads in Hawaii?

Congrats Karl. What a great find, especially in your own back yard.

Do you have a majority of the 928's on the island yet? Gotta be getting close!

Wow! Welcome to the Coral Red club!

I'm pretty sure Coral Red was only offered in '91 and '92. Not that it couldn't have been special ordered, but the early production jives with that, I suppose.

Well found.

Thanks guys. No new photos today. I was hoping to get home before dark last night and give her a bath, but the best I could do was a quick bucket wash at 11:00 and some new wiper blades. It may take me until the weekend....

I don't know how many 928s there are on the island. I have three that run. I have seen two others driving around, and a couple more on craiglist. I know have seen 4 or 5 in various parts of the island that are up on blocks. Looking at the POs receipts you can kinda understand this. If the only place I could go was the dealer mine would be up on blocks too. $1331 for plug wires? I like the $149 sets that Mark has just fine.

Dazzling! One of best Porsche special colors, will be interesting to find out if there's another Coral Red GTS. I was flabbergasted when James' friend Elliott found a Raspberry Red GTS for sale in Germany ...

Speaking of special colors, one I'd love to see again is 'Caramel Beige', offered in '87 and '88. I saw an '88 for sale several years ago in this color (with a very odd light gray interior), back when I imagined that I could someday afford to own (and care for) more than one 928. Have wondered ever since who has it now and if any others were made.

Awesome car. Great looking color. Congratulations Karl! Drive it with pleasure and safety.

Can't wait to see that car in some fantastic local settings. That color is perfect for Hawaii.

You are exactly right about that Michael. It might be the wrong color for L.A. I would want red or black or something there. Or perhaps WeissGold or tan like Leroy. But here it totally picks up the colors of the mountains and ocean and sky. I just need James or somebody decent with a camera to come out and capture it. Its funny how much difference location makes. Here lots of folks drive cars that are pretty much purple or pink and it actually looks good.

Very rare color. Here is a pic of another Coral Red GTS that another Rennlister posted. I believe that this car is in Brunei.

Ah ha! Another one. At first I was surprised to see that as the registry does not show another one and seems to account for almost all of the GTS. But the registry only has US cars and it looks like (from the registry info) that in the early years the US accounted for about 50% of all 928s shipped, but by the time the GTS came along is was more like 15 to 20%.

From the wheels Brunei should also be a '93 or very early '94 car, I think.

The Brunei car was probably a '92 EURO spec car... Since the color was a factory offered color in '91 and '92... Just guessing...

Thanks for the compliment on the pics too. I appreciate it and if you want to pay to bring me to Hawaii for a photoshoot...well, who am I to complain?! I have not been there since '88 and I'd love to go back! Was on Maui and the Big Island back then...
