Posted this question in off-topic but might as well try here for some more ideas.
Looking for an online source for a high quality breather check valve. It will be plumbed inline to a shark vent hose, needs to be about .5" in diameter.

There are heaps available (PCV Valves) and I'm sure you could find one at your local parts store. It depends what properties you want it to have as far as flow and opening resistance, but it would be easy to make one if you have some workshop equipment. You can make a spring loaded poppet, spring loaded ball bearing, or a swing check valve.

Regular PCV valves are designed for this service.

Ok, looks like I need a PCV valve. In Germany there are no generic parts readily available, and US automotive part chains like NAPA or AutoZone don't ship internationally. But now I nknow what to look for, I'll find it. Thanks!
