The 4.3L was a V6 based off the 350ci V8. It came out in 1978 as a 3.3L and was in production through at least 2009 with several revisions.

It doesn't help that many LT1 equipped cars that broke received 4-bolt engines under warranty and towards the end of the model run they all started to get them.

I think the early Camaro / Firebirds actually got the 2-bolt engines......

I like the LT1, it look school

Someday I'll buy my friends 96 Collectors Edition with the LT4. It needs an engine rebuild and he keeps offering to drop in a worked over LS motor (he owns a Corvette racing team). But part of the Collector Edition / Grand Sport is the engine.....so I'm on the fence. Even with a build up LS it will still be slower than my 81 - 928....so what's the point?

Well if nothing else you'll have a corvette with decent seats! I HATED the seats in my C5, and they haven't changed them much since then. The LS would make for a surprising car I would bet.

I had a buddy back home with a '96 Collectors Edition, not too bad. A run of the mill C5 is worth less but its a better car. The '96 GS, which I still love is holding value well last I checked.

Recent testing has suggested that the 2 bolt engines are actually stronger oddly.

C4s weigh similar weight to 928s. It's easy peasy to make 450whp with a LS these days for about $3000.

If you've already got the engine you can make that possibly cheaper than that!

The seller may be telling the truth about losing his job and needing the money, but this car was for sale here in NJ for a long, long time. When I started looking 2 years ago, it popped up every single day. Never tempted me, because I wanted a car closer to stock.

Could be the paint job, because while on the tasteful side, it's still flames. Maybe the horn plays "shave and a haircut" too.

I think 23 mpg out of an old supercar is very impressive. As with pretty much all Porsche's, the fuel mileage to power ratio can not be beat. I personally think my 83 944 is great. How can you beat a car that can go 128 and still get 30mpg for the early 80's. Nothing else could touch that fuel miliage to performance ratio for its time.

Looked at and drove the car today. I was very impressed. Appears whoever did the conversion was pretty talented, not at all cobbled together. Odo shows a little over 130k, one dash crack the usuall wear on the driver side bolster. Sounds GREAT, runs real strong. Interior is all good, all elec. works. The hood scoop is not for clearance, it all fits quite tidy. The flames are not for me (or the current owner actually) look like a white pearl and change to an almost purple at different angles. The entire car may have been sprayed, I know that the rear fascia has been, and the door/fender edges have some blemishes. Owner seems to be a real car guy and has had porsches (no 928) in the past.
Car did come from NY and drove to kc without issues. I took pics to post but my damn SD card crapped somehow and all I get is what looks like chinese arithmetic and it won't load. I can't even view them on the camera. I'm pretty realistic on values, I have over 20K into what is probably a $6000 car, but I think this car is worth the asking price...love the wheels/tires. Just my .02
The turbo is located low on the driver's side. The engine currently has no A/C
components. BIG radiator, no intercooler, set to go to 15psi

Of the 23MPG, what was final drive ratio in 5th (incl. R&P), and what was the rear tire O.D.?
