The trick is tension. The tighter you stretch it, the better it works. Tie the ends off with spot-tie so you can forget about it. The end always tries to come loose. Just tie it off.

Aviation materials and techniques are ideal for the 928.

That's all I've used is the black silicon tape when I need protection. I used nearly 100 feet of it when I fabricated my alt-starter-posts wire harness. I purchased large roll of the stuff from Pegasus Racing. For my thermal protection I used about 100 feet of 2 inch wide fiberglass tape from an aviation supplier. This material specifically for thermal protection. I was really very happy with the result. Did this about 2 years ago and no degradation of the harness. Excellent thermal and water/engine gunk protection.

That fiberglass tape is designed for harnesses that wrap around a jet engine. It is incredible.

I've seen the stuff endure twenty years of abuse without failure. It was virgin wrap when I had to hack into it. The wires failed before it did.
